Tom is going to break our hearts and state that...there's only 7 years of updates left and he drew 6 of them already and gonna do the last year each page 40 minutes before the update

Pre-announcing an announcement on Friday, cue fevered speculation. Go! My prediction is that this time Tea will greet us from space, possibly on a derelict space station.
Edit: Well, that aged like milk.

The announcement is that the comic is transitioning into being a shoujo manga focusing on the love story between Lana and Loup.
Also, this page finally inspired me to go join Tom's patreon. Really the least I can do considering I've been reading this comic thrice weekly for over 12 years (Proboards says I created my forum account in 2010 but I know I read for a while before joining the forums, seem to remember the Fangs of Summertime being the first chapter I read page by page as it was released... so potentially 15 years. Fuck I'm old).

If you zoom in really carefully on Tom's screen in the photo you can just make out the words PAUL IS DEAD written backwards on one of the page thumbnails.

i'm guessing high end 175 chapters low end 151 Just to clarify: are you counting the coming filler sagas in there? I wonder what Tom's gonna do next when this journey's over He'll continue the story, of course, either with Gunnerkrigg Shippuden or Gunnerkrigg Court Super.

What I like about this story is that it's constantly going somewhere, and that somewhere is eventually an ending. I'm not really into slice of life or one off comics, but I can see the appeal of basicly endless story. I like conclusions, the ending is as important as any other part of the story, but I get not wanting things to end. But all stories end. If you dont build to it, the story still ends eventually, its just typical sudden and a lot worse. Glad the story seems so interwoven that the ending has probably existed (in some form) for longer the my Cats. Just hope it isn't to soon, we have lots of questions that I really want answered.

on a derelict aircraft, so not *that* far off.... one is falling around the earth and one already fell! Worth a cookie crumb, maybe.... to go with the old milk?

Anyone have the link to the "last update 9 years ago"? I want to see how much things have changed since the last one. I remember picking up the first couple books in my high school library over a decade ago. Always fills me with joy to see the comic and Tom doing well. Two week break well deserved!

Last time was shortly after he started working on the comic full time. And this one is...well, not-so-shortly after he moved to the US and got married (though he doesn't mention that part in his post, oddly enough).

One of my favorite quotes. For the life of me I cannot recall where I read it. In this form, from Freefall. Before that — well, it’s an old joke. Obviously, the ‘port your helm’ version came from those who turned their boats using a tiller rather than a wheel, so it may be pretty old.

I am pretty sure Heinlein is where I first read it.
