ooh, taunting about the lost coyote's tooth too.
Snarky Renard is good Renard, we're really seeing how much Ysengrin is in there too

we're really seeing how much Ysengrin is in there too Yeah he's not using any of Coyote's power here is he. I'd be surprised if this wasn't part of the plan, playing not only on Ys' pride but the tunnel vision he gets when genuinely angry.

Renard uses Taunt... It's super effective!

Wait what? One fang? Normal canines have four, so did Coyote peddle two more fangs to some blonde and ravenhead forest girls somewhere?

Reynard is showing his French (Ysengrin wasn't 'Engleesh', although his forest garb may have caused him to smell of elderberries.)

Having provoked Loup into attacking him, Renard dodges deftly while Loup lunges. Renard slips in a reference to the fact that Loup is missing a fang. It's still unclear what Renard is trying to do here. But we do know from the previous chapters that Annie and the others have been trying to find Loup and figure out what he's up to. So this provocation may be the first part of a plan to do that. Annie, Kat, and others may be nearby, and Renard may be trying to lead him into the snare of the chapter title – not that I think that it's necessarily going to hold him forever. I doubt Annie and Kat really think they can truly contain Loup (I doubt that even Diego's arrow can do that, or at least not for long), but maybe they can talk him into revealing something.

Cracking the wise, while in mortal danger. It makes me wonder, if snark is Rey's coping mechanism for stress.

I wonder if Loup is about to feel how sharper than a Coyote's tooth it is to anger an elemental child?

This is why Reynardine is the fans' #1 favorite

Either a) Loup went into Full Ys Mode and completely fell into the trap b) Loup is well aware of Team Annie's attempt and just going along with it c) this is not the real deal and it's just a training simulation to choose the best course of action based on a given scenario
We'll find out in next episode page of GC!

Still not sure what Step 2 is, but Step 1 is going well! Maybe Annie is watching all of this through their link?
Hopefully she is aware of this, and we aren't seeing Renard trying to fix the Loup problem all by himself. We all know how hubris works out in the end... I'd really rather not see Renard added to the collective. Or destroyed.

Reynardine may be quite nimble and indeed has a long history of outfoxing Ysengrin, but this is Loup with almost all of Coyote's power. I don't think Reynard can evade Loup for long. There has to be a next step in this plan!

I don't know how likely it is, but now that you mention it I rather like option (c). This seems very risky otherwise. But maybe Renard's okay with taking risks.

Runningflame: Turns out it was option B (at least apparently, for the time being). I would've liked to see option C, too.
