Loup showing his maturityLoup overreacting and getting angry at Renard trying to help, while managing not to see himself directly mirroring Lana's overeacting and getting angry at Loup trying to help.

Hey now, none of that. No destroying anyone until you say you're sorry.
I take it we're headed to whatever this demo is, and the current topic will have to be put on hold. The lights give me the sense it's more of a technical demonstration, though really this could be anything. Kind of weird, location wise.

So whatever this tech demo is, it's at a dig site. Perhaps Kat is putting the matter transportation to good use to locate and extract buried CPUs to save on digging?

What's particularly delicious about this is that you could read this as either Renard merely advising a New Person in an avuncular sort of way, or actually trying to manage Loup while getting a sarcastic lick in.

It'd be interesting / amusing if those flashes of inner monologue were actually occurring in the Ether, and a zoned-out fairy student or someone testing a Blinker Stone happened to see Loup's disembodied head raging and screaming over a random New Person's shoulder, remark "Welp, that looks like none of my business," and simply ether-walk in the other direction.

Thus was Jerrek buried. But will he rise again?

Ah, we're not yet gonna find out what the girls talked about? It'll probably come up again later.
Also, still fingers crossed this demo uses a few EXPLOSIONS!

“So difficluck! Arr!” Loup showing his maturityLoup overreacting and getting angry at Renard trying to help, while managing not to see himself directly mirroring Lana's overeacting and getting angry at Loup trying to help. Also: as "Jerrek" he acts less immature.

Huh, so if I hadn't read any of the comic before this chapter, I might have guessed that Loup is just a representation of Jerrek's subconscious... With the "Coyote forgetting who he was" parallel, I do wonder if Jerrek will end up not wanting to be Loup.

Ahh, this is the Loup we know, I was worried there for a while! Loup overreacting and getting angry at Renard trying to help, while managing not to see himself directly mirroring Lana's overeacting and getting angry at Loup trying to help. Duh, this is totally different, Loup is the Alpha Wolf here, so he deserves respect.

Part of me really hopes that Lou-rek gives a Coriolanus apology, but it serves his interests (including the ones he doesn't fully understand) to capitulate, even if he has to scrub the homicidal gleam out of his eyes to do so.

I really didn't feel like Renard was being condescending there. More evidence for the "Renard hasn't treated Ysengrin as badly as advertised" theory maybe? This seems a bit like Loup over-reacting out of habit, unable to accept what Renard said at face value.
Agree with those who said his reaction is quite analogous to Lana's previous reaction, and for very similar reasons. I'm just happy to see he's still trying to be Jerrek, despite what's going on in his head. Still kinda worried we're going to see Loup burst out and go on a violent rampage when he is exposed.
Also, once again, I'd like to understand where Loup (his personality) came from. He clearly started with some of Ysengrin's attitudes, like "I hate all humans must kill em all die die die", for example, and his "love" for Antimony. But Ysengrin is really a lot more nuanced, at least with her. We haven't really seen any of Coyote's personality shining through that I can think of but please tell me if I missed it! So Loup really does seem like a new person, starting life with a huge amount of power that he didn't earn and none of the insight and understanding required to use it properly. But why? Why Loup, rather than, say, Ysengrin + Coyote's power, as it appeared at first?
It's almost like he locked away Ysengrin, and that Coyote hid and is just watching the show. That seems like something Coyote would do, doesn't it?

So whatever this tech demo is, it's at a dig site. Perhaps Kat is putting the matter transportation to good use to locate and extract buried CPUs to save on digging? Ya it's at a dig site, surrounded by holes. Maybe a shortcut method to finding buried robots? Or even a way to extract CPUs without having to dig them out? If it's a ground scanner of some sort, we might also get to see the tunnel system for the first time. I'm thinking Ground Penetrating Radar here, which is actual tech in our world.
Hopefully it won't show up a bunch of dead bodies. That would not be good, for so many reasons.

Oh yes indeed. Now we have two questions: (1) has Reynard recognized that this NP is Loup? and (2) Does Loup think Renard has identified him?

Near start of comic we had Annie fallen off bridge with 2 fairies who wanted her to kill them so they could become someone else with both sides of what became Loup playing assist roles... Killing fairies, and destroying Tik Tok... So lots of foreshadowing if similar is planned by coyote for loup, etc.

What if what else he locked away was the ability to revert back without having to die (in the NP body) Which brings up another interesting point: Why is it that when Coyote gave someone else one of his powers, it was flawed? Ysengrin shook and generally didn't control his tree powers that well. Renard would kill the host when he left a body, whereas Coyote didn't. So is this something Coyote did on purpose, or is there something missing when you try to use one of his powers but aren't him? I can't think of why he'd want to intentionally sabotage them if he gave them freely, which seems to be the case in each instance we are aware of.
Also... What was the flaw in the strength he gave Ysengrin?

I always saw the reason the powers were flawed because they didn't have the thing that made Coyote Coyote. He is the only thing to seem to have multiple high level powers. Everyone usually just have the 1. He also had the ability to steal/copy others ability and the control maybe another power. I doubt he's purposely giving them the powers flawed but giving it to them and laughing at them not asking how to control it before he does leading to the chaos he loves. The strength flaw is the ego that comes with it? To know you could do anything with that strength

I was under the impression that the idea behind Coyote's gifted powers being flawed was taken from the mythology itself. But the flaw in the strength? It could be enough for it not to be the strength belonging to the recipient. I couldn't imagine what my middle-aged, disabled body would even do with the strength of a young, fit woman. How much more confusing and unfamiliar and ill-fitting would the strength of a goddess be? Just having that strength would drive me doolally. Loup must be under horrific strain just trying to contain it, let alone use it.

I think Coyote thinks it makes for a much better story, if there is always a drawback to a character gaining what they desired so badly.

Sage advice from Renard – "Jerrek" should admit no wrongdoing but apologize, even though Renard thinks he was right. Jerrek isn't very happy about that, but Renard states that sometimes there are things more important than fairness. Inwardly, Loup is raging, accusing Renard of condescending to him, but he doesn't let it out – Jerrek just looks mad.
And then there's a change of scene. Several people are gathering in the ruins under floodlights. This must be the "demo" that Kat and Annie were talking about. What's it a demo of?

The strength flaw is the ego that comes with it? To know you could do anything with that strength I'm pretty confident the flaw was Loup. Yes... Well maybe not specifically Loup, but Coyote had set things up with Ysengrin and pretty much knew what would happen as soon as he got the strength. Loup pretty much explained that, saying it makes sense if you could think like Coyote! Since he had never experienced death. Anyway, he beat up Ysengrin mentally for who knows how long, and kept stealing his short-term memory, basically asking him what he wanted and what he would do with it then erasing it so Ysengrin wouldn't know it was happening.
Coyote clearly set up the attack and his "death". He knew what Ysengrin would do as soon as he got the strength and what he wanted to do with it, and almost certainly also knew that he would start by killing Coyote and taking the rest. So the rest may not be flawed, not that it matters - Ysengrin can't handle it.
I'm still not sure that explains the emergence of the "Loup" personality though. I think a lot of what we are seeing with Loup these days is his inability to cope with so much power - he didn't have only strength (well strength + gardening) long enough for us to see what the flaw in the gift of strength was, if any. Instead he immediately stole the rest, which was just far too much for Ysengrin. Maybe that's the answer, simple though it seems - Ysengrin's mind broke under the torrent of power and the realization of the depth of Coyote's machinations.
Yes, I'm saying the influx of all that power threw him for a Loup. (/ducks)
