I don't think he's underestimating Kat. I interpreted "she is nothing" to be referring to the fact that Kat is a mortal with not supernatural powers. Also, not to be nitpicky, but Kat didn't create life, the Court did. She just created better bodies for creatures that were already sentient and self-aware.

Still, what Kat has achieved here could be seen as semi-god-like, creating a new, sapient sort-of life... The NP are essentially fully organic shells (now that they have Juliette's engineered bio-brains as well). The only non-organic part is the robot code that is transferred into the bio-brains via Kat's computer and Diego's eldritch demon-green arrow of soul trapping. That is a pretty impressive feat, which Loup is starting to grasp: "Yet.... these creatures she made..." Loup may be turning some more attention to Kat in the future... No, their bodies are artificial, except for the brain. oh, agreed, they are artificial, but she grows them, they have muscles, tendons (or very similar structures) and they need normal food and process it into energy and growth/repair similarly. I figured they were organic based, mostly at least.... they are artificial organics. (EDIT: I'm meaning organic in the chemistry/biological sense, not the natural-vs-man-made sense)

Who's interrupting Loup/Jerrek in the inset panel? I'm guessing it's probably Lana. As this all seems to be a flashback, this is probably how they met. I agree it's probably Lana, but I don't think this is a flashback anymore. He only started keeping his hair pulled back like that in the last chapter, so as of this page we must be caught up to the present moment! In fact, if you look at one of the smaller bubbles on the top right, you can see Loup's memory of Annie, Kat, and Renard specifically from the last chapter (you can tell by their clothes).
In other news, I'm loving this parallel going on between the robots and the shadow men. Shadow 2 gets his 3D form thanks to Annie & her Coyote's Tooth, Robot gets his fleshy biological body from Kat and her Diego-inspired science, now all the robots are getting biological bodies like Robot's...does this foreshadow (pun intended) all the Shadow Men getting 3D bodies like Shadow's?! How would that even work?! This could get very interesting...
And of course, even if my prediction proves incorrect, I think we're still about to get more of a focus on the Shadow Men! I'm really excited about that, since I've always liked Shadow and wished we could get to know more about his people & where he came from.

<snip> Then he talks about the New People and compares them to the shadow people/glass-eyed men. He says that they're something similar. He doesn't say in what way they're similar, though. Wild speculation: Despite all of the change they've been through, the New People still don't have souls and still can't affect the Ether when they die. But something may happen to merge them with the shadow people somehow, forming an even stranger new population of beings.<snip> [emphasis added] Interesting idea. I wonder if the close friendship between Shadow 2 and Robot might play a contributing role.

Agree. Probably Lana and probably not a flashback. The font matches Lana and his thought balloons are not tinted, and he's musing on very recent events and has the hair just like Annie left it when she touched it. Awww...
I wonder how he chose the look? He didn't go through the process with the machine and Robot and all, so no RND button, and I suspect humans look more distinctive from each other than, say, geese. Or maybe that's close-minded of me, dunno.
Also, is he about to get busted? He's sitting there with his Coyote ear exposed and his eyes in Loup mode.

I suspect that the Coyote-ear is only actually visible in the ether, if even that (and in the comic, but that's for US not the other characters).

"Order your Coyote-ear within the next ten minutes, and we'll throw in a vial of Coyote-lake-water absolutely free!"
