If it was never actually in the comic then this technically doesn't count as a retcon? Also Juliette's surname revealed in the first panel. Names everywhere... Edit: Also, faces.

Upon seeing this page I tried web searching for "Arizona Shell" since it sounded like it could be code for something, like a model of nuclear weapons. I turned up nothing.
It also looks like Juliette has lost a lot of weight.
Also: how come there is no fingerprint on the moon?

Aata called her Shell in the comic, it was in formspring that Shell is short for Michelle but perhaps that was an obfuscation. Maybe Arizonia is just a nickname or maybe together they're her first and middle name. (shrug) nm, the comment at the bottom of the page says, "Her full name is Arizona Shell. Apologies to the followers of Formspring."

Thinking a bit about it, I wonder if this change of name is indicative of a rewrite of her relationship to Aata. When we first met the two, Aata called her Shell. If her real name was Michelle then they are on a first name basis (and even at a nickname basis) with each other, which might be indicative of similar rank within their organization or a friendship. If Shell is her surname then that form of address is a subtle way to indicate that Aata is her superior which would be in line with how Shell sees up to him.

The Duck tells me that there is (or was) a place called "The Arizona Shell Factory" in Phoenix. From the name I expected it would be somewhere that surplus brass cartridges are reloaded and if necessary remilitarized but instead it's potentially a place where you could buy a new tonneau cover for your pickup truck, parts for your RV, and similar things of like nature. Not sure if they sell direct to consumer or wholesale only but lack of ads suggest the latter if they're still in business. Customer reviews are mixed, but that's not uncommon.

I love that Juliette calls her "Az", AZ being the standard postal abbreviation for Arizona.

For some reason I immediately thought of two of the best buddies that always called out to each other by their surnames. I am of course talking about Mulder and Scully!

As a black person, I just wanted to pop in to point out how good Arthur's fade is looking in this scene. I appreciate people who show the effort in depicting the details of our hair.
Happy Christmas Eve, everyone.

Ah, perhaps Juliette and Aruther vouched for Arizona. That along side her final actions the last time we saw her would explain why she gets to be in the circle of trust. Still not sure why they are revealing the new people to her, but it seems like we will be getting to that in the next few pages.

Maybe she was born (or conceived?) at a gas station? But my brain immediately thought of a Coen Brothers movie. EDIT: Also, they have coyotes in Arizona.

I'm sure I'm not the only person wondering how the heck she recognized Arthur there. Maybe the New Peoples' bodies mimic their old voices? Or maybe it's just a context clue based on the eyes, manner of speaking, and proximity to Juliette.

Sorta fell by the wayside but I don't think Juliette's last name (which appears to be Morris, unless that's a nickname) has been mentioned in the comic before. While checking that and something else I also noticed that Jones called Juliette by her first name while she was on the clock, which I think suggests she knew Jones before she was recruited, possibly from as far back as school.

Perhaps along side that Arthur calling her Arizona instead of Shell, which might be a less commonly used name for her, could be a give away. It's hard to say which name she chooses to go by in most situations. Mayne she's old freinds with the two of them, the ages seem about right to me.

All I can think of now is that canned tea brand Arizona Sweet. And now I demand her next dress be turquoise, decorated with pink tree blossoms, in homage! (I kid)

The only other Arizona I know is the central character in JK Studios' series Freelancers--an odd association, to say the least.

We've never seen Aata and Shell in private, have we? Any time he uses her name in the comic, it is around Court people in a more or less "work" context. In formal situations where using the colleague's last name is usual, and in particular where colleagues know that there's an especially close personal attachment to one or the other or both, using her first name would occasion comment.

The capital of Arizona is Phoenix.
So maybe she will rise from the ashes of her crash-and-burn with Aata.
Oh look, here's a girl with fire elemental powers to help her out...
