Too lazy to look it up but I think I recall that the tongue coming out of the mouth during concentration can indicate new neural pathways being formed. Might explain last panel. Maybe.

I hope Sky Watcher managed to get a body. So small and easy to miss, wouldn’t be surprised if he was buried somewhere.

In my mind (with no evidence), I wouldn't be surprised if certain models (maybe very small or very large [thinking the horses or cows, for example]) weren't included in the shielding protocol.

Too lazy to look it up but I think I recall that the tongue coming out of the mouth during concentration can indicate new neural pathways being formed. Might explain last panel. Maybe. New neural pathways are formed during every waking moment, no matter what you do, but most are discarded and never copied into the long term memory. Sticking the tongue out during fine motor activities is thought to free the brain from focusing on the many inputs from the highly sensitive tongue while concentrating, but from what I could gather any studies looking at it are quite flimsy and with a large amount of assumptions (It's not exactly a super important phenomenon that attracts a huge amount of funding for research I suppose!).
And I'm interested in the growing divide between the Seraphs and and the "New People". The seraphs are a wild card, and I wonder if this new robot religion is going to undergo a schism sometime soon, like a breakway protestant reformation or something!

It feels like there's a clash coming, the Seraphs were already hurting from their angel's rejection, now they're getting mocked for it by her New People too. It's not hard to see them doing something nasty like blowing the whistle on them to the Court, since they don't really have any of Kat's respect left to lose.

First thought: they seem to have a lot of human firmware… do they have head-slap/facepalm reflex?

I think it's just they're harvesting their brains (the only part needed for the conversion) so they too can be converted.
Instead of leaving their family trapped under the court-forest

When concentrating, I'd expect more wrinkle on the forehead / eyebrows.
It would be funny if the "new people" were about to feed on these carcasses.

I can definitely see the Seraphs 'defaulting' to their original, official allegiance — the Court. This has the makings of a 'Paradise Lost' situation: the angels side with the original power, while the new breed (new people/demons) follow an apocryphal doctrine & leader in pursuit of things that are above their "station." It's also interesting that humans (particularly in the Court) might also regard the new people as Judeo-Christianity regards demons — deceitful, coming in one form while being of another, roaming the Earth that should rightfully belong to humans on their own agenda, rather than serving their God and ministering to humans.

So as some have speculated... it's a rescue mission! Interestingly, the Seraph is neither helping nor impeding the NPs in their quest.
I get the impression that the red-eye NP is a little "older" and more experienced than the green-eye.
It's also interesting that humans (particularly in the Court) might also regard the new people as Judeo-Christianity regards demons — deceitful, coming in one form while being of another, roaming the Earth that should rightfully belong to humans on their own agenda, rather than serving their God and ministering to humans. Reminds me a bit of the movie Ex Machina, or the quantum-computer brained bots in the book 2112. In both those cases, the "new people" ended up running free among the human population unnoticed (at least by the point where those stories ended).

The old robots were always somewhat "trapped" by their intended function, which was built right into their core programming. Guard bots need to guard, maintenance bots need to clean...and Seraph models need to surveil. Actually, come to think of it, they might specifically feel a need to surveil other robots, which would explain why this one left as soon as Pink-eye pointed out they aren't really robots anymore. But anyway, my main point here was that it's really interesting to see how the new robots, with their extra free will and depth of consciousness, interact with the only "true robots" left standing, i.e. the Seraphs.
Also, it honestly hadn't occurred to me that Pink-eye's little grin and stuck-out tongue in that last panel could be seen as, um, anticipation of good food...but now I can't unsee it. This is like Cvet's "mustache" all over again! Stop messing with my brain, you jerks!

Back to it, after US Thanksgiving. I'm catching up, so I'm following my usual post-before-reading-others'-comments rule by not reading the comments about today's page. I've read the comments about the intervening pages, though, and responded in a place or two.
It appears that the red-haired one's comment on the previous page was a bit stinging, because the Seraph robot has wandered off. To do what, I wonder? Have another creepy meeting with its comrades to discuss how to return to the Angel's good graces? Consider what to do as an alternative?
The red-haired one seems to know more about Seraph robots than the brown-haired one. It also seems as if the androids are quite the self-starters, giving the impression that this expedition was their idea and that the Seraph model was only there because of their need to feel as if they're supervising. The brown-haired one has barely said anything so far.
Their aim seems to be to recover some of the CPUs of the buried robots, perhaps to take them back to Kat so they can have the opportunity to become androids too. They've found two of them here after fairly minimal effort; I expect there'll be a lot more of them that are buried deeper than this. I love the expression of the red-haired android in the last panel – either she's being goofily disarming, or she's going to do something disturbing like swallow the CPUs, which will actually result in connecting them to Kat's network and beginning the transfer process. I'm voting for goofily disarming, though.

Funnily, the vibes I got over the course of the story were more that the Seraphs were never affiliated with the Court, always doing their own thing.

When the bots to sweep the floors and unplug the toilets and fix the pipes are all missing from their jobs, the people will cry out:
Where have all the boxbots gone And where are all the gods? Where's the streetwise Hercules To fight the rising odds? Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed Late at night, I toss and I turn And I dream of what I need I need a boxbot I'm holding out for a boxbot 'til the end of the night He's gotta be strong, and he's gotta be fast And he's gotta be fresh from the fight I need a boxbot I'm holding out for a boxbot 'til the morning light He's gotta be sure, and it's gotta be soon And he's gotta be larger than life Larger than life

Ironic if the Seraphs are now pariahs in New People society, since Robot was a Seraph way back in the beforetimes — albeit a troublemaker who got paperclipped. And the Angel helped him....
BTW, if a cow robot gets a new body, would it choose a bovine one?

Agreed, mocking them doesn't seem like a good idea! I'm also wondering how the red-haired FNP (Female New Person) knew all this about the Seraphs. Could this be our friend S13 in a new form? The red eyes and extra knowledge make me suspicious! The other one seems more like a water pipe inspector or something - a more typical ex-robot that isn't used to dealing directly with the world.
That's my guess really - S13 and the water pipe leak inspector.
If that's Robot there, then mocking the Seraphs would be extra cruel, as he was the one egging them on, notably with the boat incident. But then, we already know he had an agenda, maybe we're going to finally find out what it is.

I don't think it is Robot, the personality feels wrong, Robot was never one to take jabs at people. Robot's mental depiction in the virtual dreamscape comes across as much more androgynous than this gal is, too. I remember someone in one of the discussion threads mentioning that Angels were traditionally presented as genderless, which fits well enough. Nah, dark complexioned dude may well be the pipeworker bot out on his first excursion with the new body, but I reckon the girl is one of the first few to make the jump, her extra time and experience giving her some seniority over the others.

It was also covered by Jennifer Saunders in Shrek 2, which is the only version I'm familiar with.

Wait, what exactly does she mean about his having to be "fresh from the fight"? Is she some sort of camp follower hanging around close to a battlefield? Taking advantage of guys with PTSD? That's a rather unusual kink.

Come to think of it, let's look at that song from a different perspective...
... you're a soldier coming home from the war zone...
... your girl told you to meet you at this tavern...
... the bus drops you off there with your rucksack...
... still in fatigues...
... you walk in the door...
... there's your girl up there on stage, singing this song...
... and she gestures for you to come up to the stage...
... sings the final lines while she drapes herself around you...
... don't think I need to say any more.
