Apparently, it seems that Annie has to kill Loup. With the tooth. Herself. Oh, and a jobless Shell has to find Aata. Herself.

Apropos of nothing, I love the almost hieroglyphic look that Shell has in the last panel. That's a gal on a(nother) mission.

Also apropos of nothing, I am guessing Shell's age (or apparent age) to be in her early 30s. At least I punched in all the data I know about Shell (heh) and that's what the wetware popped out. She reminds me a whole lot of an oilfield engineer I had in one of my training classes once.

Nobody past the age of 25 should be wide-eyed and impressed because some dude did not prioritise his career over saving their life.

The big question here is what's with Rey's head in panel 4?! Is he looking left or right?! We will neeever know.

become a familiar to a Fire Elemental and all of a sudden you got fire puns and phrases I figure it's a modified version of his typical "What the devil?" (What the devil ≈ what [in] the hell; blazes ≈ hell.) Which doesn't mean your theory is wrong, however...

Nobody past the age of 25 should be wide-eyed and impressed because some dude did not prioritise his career over saving their life. Age ≠ maturity, physical age ≠ chronological age ≠ mental age. In the real world, there are A LOT (and I do mean A LOT) of people, regardless of age, who [re]act like that in given situations, even typical or regular ones, and more so when a particular person they admire, like and/or idealize is involved in such.

Our home's old furnace finally died, and we got a new one. It was expensive. Sigh.
Anyway, Annie's finally talking to Renard about all this stuff, but not enough, I think. Are Renard and Annie going to go it alone, or are they going to bring in any help? But then she drops the bomb about how she's supposed to kill Loup with the tooth/dagger, by herself. Renard is ... very surprised.
But without dealing with that, Annie sees Shell and runs off to make sure she's OK. She says she is. But she "has to find Aata." He teleported away with Parley and left Shell behind. We don't know what he's doing, what sort of consequences he's facing, or where he is. I wonder if we'll find out.

I guess better at the beginning of the season, than the thick of winter. Yes, Northern Hemisphere. Its main circuit board died, and it wasn't able to signal the part of it that burned gas. That, and the whole thing was super old anyway, so we got a new, more efficient one. And you're right, it's better to find that out now than in midwinter when it's seriously cold out. We were without heat for a few days, but at least it didn't go below the 50s (°F; the 10s in °C) indoors, and that was at night when we've got blankets.
