It's clearly Room Service. She should complain about the accommodations.

Jones could punch thru rock, but whatever is doing this seems to be making the rock glow as well. Unless that is light coming through fissures in the rock.... Yeah, Im taking a wild guess that it is Jones punching through, and Annie is near to where Jones is about to punch through; were are seeing some light from the surface, or maybe some lighting to help the excavation here.

Hmmmm...I think some of Eglamore's ward-type magic had a similar glow to it, didn't it? I'll place my bet on him.
In other news, I still can't quite tell if that orange light is something Annie made with her fire, or a Forest creature she just decided to follow around.

Hope that isn't Cherenkov radiation.
Assuming no special equipment, if you see Cherenkov radiation in water you need to get out of there fast. If you see it in air, you probably are already dead of radiation poisoning.
(The Cherenkov radiation itself is probably harmless. What causes it is the problem: subatomic particles traveling at faster than the speed of light in whatever they're traveling through.)

I wondered the same thing - is that light something Annie created to light her way, or a separate entity? As far as the noise and other light is concerned, it certainly could be Eglamore, but on the other hand, perhaps Rey has decided to join the party at last?

Oops, I forgot it was Friday, after having a busy Wednesday. I'm sure you all totally missed me, haha. Anyway, it appears that after Loup's rearrangement of the Forest's molecules into a flow of dirt and plant matter, Annie has been trapped in caverns made of wood. She's managed to use her fire powers to create a floating orb of light -- "werelight," Tom called it in his comment, perhaps following Ursula K. LeGuin's lead from A Wizard of Earthsea. And now she's exploring, perhaps looking for other people or a way out. A repeated percussive sound appears to be approaching. My guess is that it's James. But whoever or whatever is doing the thudding appears to be on the verge of breaking through one of the walls, and there appears to be a blue light coming through the cracks. Again, it could be James, using one of the various powers he's got, granted by the many magical wards on his body.
It's not truly clear how much time has passed -- was Annie unconscious at first, or merely in the dark? Has she communicated with Renard at all? Or has she been communicating with him the entire time? Perhaps Annie waited until things settled down and then set out immediately, but then how long did it take for things to settle down? Or perhaps she took a bit of a breather at first before realizing that the amount of oxygen available to her could be limited. Another question we don't know the answer to, of course, is exactly where she is -- how far from the Court, and how far below the surface?
Anyway, now I can look at what others have said, by my own self-imposed rule.

Annie's uncertain/wary look at it here, on the right www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=2517also suggests she is not the creator. Whoever made it would have to know quite precisely where she was, and the chaos of the Loupian upheaval www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=2512would make that difficult, unless it has some sort of seeking spell attached. Eggs can make lights www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=2188but seeking spells seem a bit advanced and maybe would require a real magic user like Jenny. Aata might have the power, but the werelight should look more botanical in that case! A floating, glowing lotus maybe. Loup (if still extant) or Coyote (if extant once more) could do it....

The way you read it is equally valid, but as I read it, she woke up with an "Ugh," was in the dark for a moment, figured out how to make a light, then coughed, stood up and looked uncertainly at what the light was revealing. If someone else is making the light, we'll probably find out sooner or later. If Annie did it herself, it may or may not ever be remarked upon.
