Okay, was the forest contained somehow before all that?

Okay, was the forest contained somehow before all that? It was partly destroyed. The Court grew inside the Forest and essentially replaced it with buildings. It's implied that the divide created by Coyote was what stopped it from expanding further into Gillitie Woods iirc (and on the other side it reached the sea I guess)

Welp. I really hope not, but I'd say it'd be logical for ALL the scouting party to be wiped (-Annie, floating away): Eggers, various Shadow men, even Aata. Parley would have teleported away a couple, Cvet would have received a fine beating trying to fly away with another couple.
That'd would give, narrative wise, a somber but real feel to this last arc (on my opinion)

As for Aata, I doubt we've seen all he can do. There may be casualties but I'll bet all the people who have names are fine.

That'd would give, narrative wise, a somber but real feel to this last arc (on my opinion) I doubt this is the last arc, given what Tom posted on 2nd October last year ( Bonus page 77): "That said, the story still has a lot to resolve and there is a lot more to come."

That's clearly a picture of a Vantablack Boxbot on a void background. I mean you can't see it, but you know... context.

The terra firma tidal wave is coming for everything: the breach made by the Annan waters (formerly amplified by the desecrated corpse of one of their own), the land that was razed and built over, the defectors, the humans, and their metal servants –
But of course, tidal waves also utterly discombobulate everything within them, stranding its own where they don't belong or even smashing the life out of them.
This feels like it's headed for a pyrrhic victory (at best). Uprooting your foundations to destroy another environment's foundations and whatnot.
O/t: where's the seed bismuth?

I am increasingly of the opinion that she doesn't need to be the original "seed" but may turn out to be a seed in the alchemical sense.

I think Aata made a protective super-shrubbery to encase and shelter the Shadowmen who couldn't be flown (Cvet), zipped (Mr Eggs), or 'ported (sir George of Parley) out quickly...

This chapter is 40 pages of black screen, then next chapter starts with everyone having a nice time in Hawaii. No explanation is given.

So. Black chapter icon. Black title image. Is the Forest going to release a power outage? I get the impression that this will follow on directly from what just happened, rather than there being a skip in time or change of viewpoint to another group of characters.

I am thinking that The Forest has overwhelmed The Court, basically burying it. I bet the citizens of the court are ok, just trapped inside their buildings which are probably smashed up and all power is out. The only way to get from one building to the next is by whatever underground network of tunnels they can find. We know these tunnels exist and wind around quite a bit. I also don't think anyone is dead. Loup had the opportunity to kill several people earlier with his stabby wooden tentacles, but even after being pierced through the torso it turns out everyone will be just fine. But I do think the court is pretty much trashed. Nothing the robots (or the Seed Bismuth) can't repair in short order.

If you squint really, really, really hard, you can see the color black.

Best way this chapter could start: Red and Ayilu narrowly escape death as the Forest tidal wave washes over the Court destroying all before it. As they struggle to their feet amid the ruins, bruised and dirty, they realize that the wave has deposited a perfectly unharmed and dirt-free Antimony on a pile of rubble above them. "Ohi," Antimony says as she looks down at them. "How've you guys been?"

I am half expecting 15-20 pages of blackness, with just Tom's comments below the page to describe what might be going on.
