Is it shipping if it's just a mild, one-sided crush on your boss? That's all I'm seeing here... Shell is always seen with Aata. Mentor/mentee seems like the right relationship from their behaviors. Also, she knows a lot about him and his situation - she knew he had powers, she knew he would suffer consequences for using them to save her and did it anyway, etc. So he's shared a lot of info with her that doesn't seem to be common knowledge. Again, this seems more like mentoring than anything. Honestly, I didn't even realize she was a girl until everyone else did - it wasn't obvious from her first appearance. I would not be shocked to find that even she didn't realize she had a bit of a crush until just now. If there is more to it than that, I'm sure Tom will tell/show us.

Good old "attraction to an older man in a position of authority"? See Police song "Don't Stand So Close To Me" for reference. Tsk. We have to ship everything now, I guess. Good old Internet. I thought it at least possible he was her father or mentor, and he had rarely been demonstrative with affection or even emotionally available before. I inferred he had had a need to be in control of himself and things around him at all times, and was teaching her to be the same. To be fair, even an avid dispraiser of shipping like me sees something (one-sided) in the picture Tom posted on Twitter.

Over the years I have seen far too many one-sided father-daughter relationships where the father was the distant one. In most of those cases the father thought he was shielding his daughter and teaching her not to be emotionally needy.

Couldn't agree more.
