Hm, was expecting a more dramatic turn at page 2500, but I guess this will set up things for the actions to be unfold in the upcoming pages.

Well, I just saw Loki fall in love with theirself(?), so another trickster chatting with itself is just normal in my books.

Loup receives his instructions... What are they? I see an opportunity.

Oh that wouldn't surprise me at all. Coyote tells Annie she will have to kill Loup, then tells Loup that Annie will try and kill him, causing him to attack her and thus creating the circumstances in which Annie has to kill him in self defence in the first place. Coyote doesn't lie, but his half-truths are dangerous in themselves.

Coyote did say he would make sure Loup didn't leave Annie a choice, so whatever he's saying is unlikely to make Loup open to negotiations.

the white bubbles in the last frame implying memories are returning to Loup (probably via the lake-Coyote water)?

Possible that Coyote tells Loup the full plan and Loup agrees it is a wonderful plan and then pretends to be angry so Annie kills him. We have had forest animals who wanted to be killed by Annie before so they could be reborn as something else.

Farewell, Readings Thing; we hardly knew ye. Coyote's energy continues to recoil back into the Forest, frying each Shadow Men agent's handheld conductor wand one by one.
Aata and Shell are looking back down the line before the destruction has reached them; they appear to already know that something's gone wrong. Perhaps they can tell by the series of pops. Aata isn't smiling, for once.
The energy beam streaks past James and Parley, who seem startled by this whole thing. I suppose to them, it's been pretty quick: Shell threw the wand, the energy streaked out through the Forest, then it popped its way back, and now it's zapping back toward Loup. Or rather, it's ceasing to be drawn away from Loup.
Close-up of Annie looking on in surprise, anticipation, and perhaps terror, but we don't see what she's looking at until the final frame – when it appears that Coyote's echo is now talking to Loup, and we're not privy to this conversation. I'm guessing that Annie isn't either. Glowing white orbs float in the air around them as they talk, looking like memories look when Coyote steals, manipulates, or returns them. Quite likely Loup is learning of Coyote's wonderful plan. I'm not sure when exactly Loup will agree that it's wonderful, but it may or may not be today. From the foreshadowing we've been given, I suspect that Loup isn't exactly going to react with glee. Interestingly, the echo of Coyote appears all black here, with red outlines. Both Loup and Coyote's echo appear to have blank white eyes, and they're still hanging in the air, just like the situation. It's looking as if Monday's page will be intense.

"You should probably kill everyone in Gunnerkrigg Court if you want to live."
"You should make sure Annie is not harmed otherwise you'll never know what I planned for the future."
"The answer is 42."

Suddenly had the thought that I'm not sure why we should be so sure that Loup will agree it's a wonderful plan. Remember it was as early as Page 11 that Robot was given a choice about whether to return and we learn on Page 226 that being given a choice was extremely meaningful to him. Loup, as a creature that is not Coyote, might make a different choice than Coyote predicted; especially if either (i) Coyote is not completely omnipotent or (ii) Coyote is not completely omniscient. That would of course push the comic into philosophical territory, but it would hardly be the first time.

Happy 2500th page! Everybody looks surprised, bar Aata. He did get advance notice that this plan failed, but given that he still has his hands behind him, he seems to simply be in observation mode, rather than worried mode (yes, I realise this is all happening in literal seconds, but there was enough time for Shell to look back, and for Parley and that guy to take a few steps). Which makes me hope that the Court has a Plan B. Just to flag that Coyote said Annie will have 'little choice', not 'no choice'. For a liar like Coyote, that's enough wiggle room for a lot of things. And just some speculation as to the true limits of Coyote's omniscience (as opposed to self-imposed ones): false gods can surprise him on the how ( Aata, Loup) but not on the what, true gods can surprise him on the what (so he genuinely can't predict what Mecha!Kat will do, and she will have a real choice unlike everybody else).

I enjoy the visual aspects of Tom's art for many reasons, not least the evolution in style from the earliest days through today. But the current chapter has me appreciating the auditory aspects as well - which are, starting with episode 2489: zap crackle zzap krkk fzzz shhh zzt pof zzzt boom pop pop pop
--or in its abridged form: zap crackle pop (Loup frenzies)

Tch. In case there were any illusions that Coyote absolving himself of the blame for what's about to happen was anything but a farce.
We do love the sly dog. Be he is, in the end, still a sly dog.

He's always held his hands like that. [Edit] Proboards doesn't make it obvious, but those are seven different links. Well, I'll be... I always saw it as him being in the standard arms-behind-back-pose where one hand is holding the other. All the time like this seems strenuous and unnatural.
