I remember having this same priority back when I was that age. Only more so.

Zimmy's powers must be filtering some of those thoughts because my thoughts generally are more incoherent and repetitive than that! If someone were connected to my brain all the time they'd probably get exhausted pretty fast. I can kind of see why it's fun to hang out with Zimmy insofar as you also get to see other people's thoughts and not just your own or Zimmy's.

So, Gamma is turning to someone in that last panel. Was Renard Zimmy all along? It looks to me as if she's turning away from Rey – it looks like he's to her right, and she's looking left. That's insofar as there are directions in telepathic para-physical Ether space, of course. While I'm here, so Lise and Rob are siblings, eh? (More character notes.) And these are real people, but they aren't, and it's complicated? Are we seeing some bits of what they'd really be thinking and doing and some bits of what Zimmy and/or Annie are influencing them to think/do? Where are the real tree kids' consciousnesses, by the way? Are these the thoughts of the real Tam? Or not? Or some of each?

I wonder if the real reason Tam is with them there is because he's actually the only elf kid who got caught in the distortion for real, and the other three we're see are partly made out of his memories of them.

Gamma has a very nice smile on the bottom of this page. She's adorable.
I think this chapter is the longest single span of time we've ever heard Gamma speak (or mind-communicate, you know what I mean). It's neat to get to know her a little better.

That's my speculation - maybe he isnt because he actually had a hold of the Zimmster... and that somehow threw him somewhere else - into the separate "Zimm-ether" space where Rey and Gamma are.

You know, Zimmy can be a bit grouchy, and she doesn't really want people to think she's nice, but really I think she's pretty innocent in a lot of ways. For example, when called a deranged psychopath, the best retaliation she could come up with was "Oh yeah? Well... Yer dad's a jerk!". No mild profanity, even. Or I suppose this could just be because she couldn't think of anything else bad to say about Annie. Still, mild words, even when she looked pretty upset. Is it possible she isn't growing up? Many have noted that she's still the same size and looks the same as her earliest appearances, even the flashbacks, while Gamma has aged normally. When Zimmy said Gamma was the only reason she was alive, I wonder how literal that was? Is she really "still" alive or did she die to bullying or something? Jones said Zimmy is human, for all intents and purposes. Except for having something like a power station in her mind. Could it be that Zimmy is actually dead, but kept here by Gamma? That seems a stretch, I know, but what else explains a girl that isn't aging visibly, is tightly tied to the energy of the ether but unable to see or enter the ether in the same way as the other characters (as far as has been revealed anyway), and is also tightly tied to a manifestation of a city she once lived in? I guess we don't know if the city is real in any sense, nor if it has an existence separate from Zimmy. We also don't know where this black void is that Gamma and Renard are hanging out in but Gamma seems to think that Zimmy is there. That was a real question, not rhetoric - what does all of that describe? Zombie? Ghost? Creature created by the mind of man?

Not that it really affects the overall point of your post but out-of-comic it was mentioned by Mr. Siddell that Zeta once killed a dog with a coat hanger and if memory serves it may have been push-back against the notion of Zeta as innocent, although he later said that it was to protect Gamma. I can't find the OP but it was referenced on formspring a couple of times. Make of that what you will, fellow forum-members.

I'm not sure how this affects my silly little theory. "Willing to do anything to protect the only thing she loves" doesn't necessarily imply a lot of life experience. Still, ick!
