Actually Tom said that the gunk covering her eyes is just a visual metaphor, but her teeth really are pointy. A Formspring QA? In any case, then my question is: Were they always so, or did she reality warp herself into having them pointy to accord with her self-image? While she is female and thus not an incompletely transformed Forest animal, it's not out of bounds to think a similar process might have been involved.

The scenes with the faceless people are like how I imagine a stray dog might see them, in a way.

Certain credulous pet owners who are susceptible to suggestion that there's some "secret trick veterinarians don't want you to know about", I guess. ¯\_🤢_/¯ It's consistent with the stupid "secret trick" ad genre, just with one of the yuckier possible subects.
