The lines coming off the faces of the nobodies in panel 1, look like the etheric.. code? I don't think we've seen it that clearly before.
Where that's been shown before is right on the tip of my brain but I can't place it, only that it's not quite the robot code, the arbiter language or diego's drawings.

I am also worried about this guy. The lines coming off the faces of the nobodies in panel 1, look like the etheric.. code? I don't think we've seen it that clearly before. Where that's been shown before is right on the tip of my brain but I can't place it, only that it's not quite the robot code, the arbiter language or diego's drawings. It reminds me of two things: 1) the black lines some people type to reach a lovecraftian affect on their comment 2) the court's roots
Looks so far Annie still can gop without gamma being nearby.

So within the realm of my insane Zims==Antimony thingy I'm gonna add a goofy side-branch and theorize that whenever Zimmy collects too much ether she triggers a disruption in the barriers between timelines or dimensions or whatever, possibly due to her soul being split amongst two different realities. This would make the scribble-face people just regular folks going about their business in a parallel reality.
This would raise the question of what Gamma and Annie are doing when they GOP - both of them are ether sinks/magnets, so maybe they're just pulling enough power out of the system to locally stabilize the reality matrix. Either that or they're causing random passersby to spontaneously disintegrate in the other world.

(not quite a perfect match tho) ...and yes! GOPing successful - a bit of a relief that it still works.... since he was directly on top of Zimms when she warped into Zimmingham, orange-shirt elf might have caught the biggest wave of reality distortion. He might be in deep doo-doo right now....

That was meant to be a swear? I thought that was someone's name. I think it is just a generic (slightly derisive?) name the elf is using for a member of the Court when he doesnt know their real name. An "in kind" Annie reply would be: "Well, 'Forest'... this wouldn't have happened if you had just left her alone, instead of scaring her half to death, chasing and assaulting her!" But Annie probably wouldn't put it like that, being more diplomatic and medium-like.

You'd think forest kids would be less likely to cause this sort of issue. I mean, if I grew up living anywhere near Coyote, my first thought upon seeing an unfamiliar "demon" would not be "I'm gonna wrassle it."
And if for some reason I did think that and something like this happened, my second thought would not then be "Damn Court, tricking me for wrassling demons."

Not too seriously, but I was wondering, if someone somewhere just dropped like a marionette with its string cut. Theo: "So what do you think of the new TPS reports" Nina: "I like the new font. A lot easier on the eyes to read." Theo: "Yeah, I wa-" * collapses and whacks into the floor* Nina: "..." * slowly sips coffee*

Yeah Annie can still Gop!
That's good. I'm still suspicious that she thinks she knows what's going on when she really really doesn't. Just the dialogue choices have been consistent on that score and I don't think it's a comforting lie/mask for the elf kids.
Addendum: A long time ago Zimmy mentioned that sometimes real people also don't have faces to her. That subset is likely a great deal of why she's frightened of Nobodies. Because then her hallucinations are hiding real world things she has to react to. Also apparently homeless kid in bad neighborhood. You do the math for why random person can be dangerous.
Annie's "Just Ignore then" advice works with her experience... I hope for her sake that she doesn't run into Court officials unknowingly with three elf kids with her.

Have we seen that some real-world people can't gop the Zimminghamsters? (Not knowing, and being afraid to touch them, doesn't qualify.)
If pretty much any real-world people can gop them, why do they always seem to be approaching any real-world people in the area? Death wish?

I mean...Pink Hoodie Kid isn't WRONG, in the last panel there. This IS 100% Zimmy's work. It's just obviously the elf kids' fault she reacted this way. Khepi is gonna be SO PISSED at them when (if?) they get home. Also, Annie telling people they should "just ignore them" is basically confirming storyteller's theories about how she sees Zimmingham, in my mind. Nice call, storyteller!

Either that or they're causing random passersby to spontaneously disintegrate in the other world. Amusing (in Coyote sense) as it could be, Kat wasn't affected in any noticeable way. Of course, there may be differences between these Nobodies generated by Zimmy and phantoms from the memories of visitors. But they splash just as well. Yeah — an one-syllable curse. And due to multiple meanings, has a room to grow.

Gamma can GOP the Nobodies. So can Annie. I guess the tree people probably can't, or they'd be doing that instead of trying to hit them with things.
Evidently Zimmy can't GOP them either, and more than that, she needs them out of her way for some reason. Their presence disturbs her.
Theory: They are the embodiment of Zimmy's fears and insecurities. It's not that their presence disturbs her – it's that they are what disturbs her. She can't accomplish anything without dealing with them, and she can't deal with them on her own. Only people who empathize with Zimmy can help her deal with them. People who are antagonizing Zimmy aren't going to be able to do it. Now, does that mean that just anybody who empathizes with Zimmy could help her as Gamma and Annie do? I don't think so, but I think that's a necessary condition, just not sufficient. I think you also need to have some telepathic ability (Gamma) or at least some empathic ability (Annie).
I wonder what's happened to Hair Buns. It happened off-camera, before Annie saw them. Pink Hoodie and 05 seem OK for now. I also wonder where Orange Tank is. He may be wherever Zimmy is, as he was in physical contact with her.

I mean, some sort of almost-human-like monsters you've never seen before are coming after you, is your first thought going to be to run up and touch them? Zimmy... kind of a special case, particularly in Zimmingham. Since she knows Gamma can gop them, it's likely she has tried, and she still would rather avoid them than gop them herself, so yeah she probably can't. Nothing implausible there, but nothing proven either. (That's the heck of it - there is almost nothing proven about the whole mess.) Given the apparently-minimal passage of time, I'm going with "scared witless". And perhaps something else that end in "-itless". Same comment about proof.

It just occurred to me that we don't even know if the rules of Zimmingham stay the same from one visit to the next. (Although, obviously, at least one Annie can still gop the nobodies. And everyone can still breathe, assuming they need to.)

And everyone can still breathe, assuming they need to.) Zeta seems to have an idea of what' s happened when Zimmingham manifests and at least sometimes can navigate in a useful way. I'd expect there to be a core set of "rules" imposed by the unchangeable aspects of Zeta's problem, some more "rules" that seem unchanging because of similar long-running circumstances about where Zeta lived/lives and what she usually does and how she thinks/feels, a couple sets of "rules" that switch off depending on one or two variables, and finally there may be some "rules" that are unique to each manifestation.
