But wait, Kat just said things will be okay! The boogyman has a good day when someone is scared. And Kat is Zimmy's boogyman.

I know this must have been brought up before (possibly by me) but I am going to be eternally bugged by that white circle on her shirt. It's not just a design, we see it starting to fade in on the shirt Zimmy borrows from Jenny in the Torn Sea. The shirt Jenny gets from Zimmy loses the circle after it's on someone else. Something about Zimmy causes it to appear. It's the most minor detail that's bugged me for years. Zeta. Distorter of reality. Creator of circles.

I see two possible interpretations (not mutually exclusive):
1: Kat's "choices" have had more to do with Zimmy's condition than we previously thought.
2: WAAAGH! Zimmy is about to start and the galaxy shall burn.

Or some of their newest experiments accidentally messing with her mind. And Loup said that the Court's experiments are undermining the procedures needed to keep Gilltie Wood going. I wonder if there's a connection.

I will say that Jenny's dark red shirt looks like it has a different neckline than the dark red shirt Zimmy ends up with... maybe that's an art error, although it is very consistent in both cases. The circle's placement seems to indicate the heart area--it reminds me a bit of Parley's gleaming heart, though that's visually very different. I wonder what it means. ... Anyway, yeah, this page is terrifying and I feel sorry for whatever awful things Zimmy has to go through now. And after we saw her so happy last time!

Anyway, yeah, this page is terrifying and I feel sorry for whatever awful things Zimmy has to go through now. And after we saw her so happy last time! I believe the neckline looks different because the shirt changed to fit Zimmy, as well as starting to develop the circle. As you can see, when the shirt switch first took place, it looks like Zimmy had to hold the shirt up at the shoulder, whereas later it has a different neckline and fits her fine: www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1430

the talk there about seen and unseen would be a direct reference to this chapter'a title Kat bout to see somethings to the level of Zimmy? and therefor might need a Gamma in the form of multiple Annie's

Man, I knew the last scene was coming off way too nicely for something terrible to not happen.

I'm definitely going to re-quote this in Cool Things I Noticed On Reread, because this is AMAZING. I...don't even think it's been brought up before? At the very least, it's completely new to me.
Also, I checked and AAUUUUUGGGHHHH IT'S EVEN ON HER SCHOOL UNIFORM. The uniform is ALL WHITE, but it has a little outline of a circle right in that SAME FRIGGIN SPOT!!!! This is MIND BLOWING, on the level of when I first got introduced to the 113 thing. It's so tiny and apparently insignificant, and yet so consistent and completely unexplained.

That is one of the most interesting spots I've seen in a while, I don't think I've ever seen anyone mention it before. Zimmy distorts reality so much that whatever she is wearing eventually distorts to become the same shirt she always wears? Or just that symbol? What does that white circle mean? hmm

First asked (I think) about in Q to T back in 2008, and several times later in Formspring, the circle on Zeta's shirt has been speculated about by several people on the forum. I'm not sure but I think it was eventually said that it doesn't have significance as a symbol but was just the logo or whatever from that one shirt overlapping reality thanks to Zeta's powers, and as such the questions about it couldn't have been answered before Zeta's powers had been more fleshed out in the comic since it would have been a minor spoiler.

(Edit to add: I don't think this is something the robots are doing, as in chapter 49 ... they're getting what they want, and Kat seems to have automated the process so it can go on without her presence.) I've changed my mind. I now think that it's the Seraph Squad. For ... multiple reasons, some of which are wild speculation that I won't mess around with here. They've done this before, so they know how to do it and have access to the means. They're now using the etheric generator again, on a larger scale, and for a different purpose. I'm not sure whether the purpose directly involves Kat or not, but I suspect Kat's going to be involved whether they want her to be or not. And I think this time Kat's going to have to deal with Zimmingham without Annie, and Paz is going to have to deal with the fact that she's dating a Machine Angel. I'm sure Gamma's OK. They've just temporarily separated her from Zimmy, and they'll need her around to cool Zimmy down after this. But they want what Zimmy can do and have no compunctions about causing her pain. Robot may or may not be aware of the plan in advance, just as was the case in chapter 49; we still don't know whether he was in on it or whether he just helped them rationalize it afterward.

I was kind of nervous this chapter after seeing Kat's haircut, since she's got the look of "someone who has lived a full life". This page doesn't make me feel any better about something huge and bad being in store for (this timeline's?) kat.

Zimmy is not having a good time. But then, she almost never does. I know this must have been brought up before (possibly by me) but I am going to be eternally bugged by that white circle on her shirt. Or it's just some reflective pin that Zimmy keeps, that leaves a noticeable dust/moisture/salt "shadow" when removed. But — good eye!
