454Yeah, Zimmy is even more out of the loop than usual, it seems.

Poor Zimmy. Whatever's out there must be broadcasting, or else awfully darn etheric.

So Zimmy would be fine if they managed to stop/destroy whatever is on the other island over there then??

We see again that Annie's a natural mediator. So Zimmy would be fine if they managed to stop/destroy whatever is on the other island over there then?? Wanton destruction is the answer to all problems! ;D

I suggest they get the hell out of there before the experiment actually begins. If the power up alone is messing with Zimmy.

If it is as powerful as you say it is then there is nowhere safe within the Court I wouldn't have thought... Think nuclear bomb damage radius...

Man, I would hate to see what happens to Zimmy when the experiment escalates. Mass mindscrew, anyone?

As a side note, I really like the little detail of those faint lines running between Zimmy and Gamma's heads while all this is going on.

your all worried about zimmy, none of you seem to say that gamma looks like shit and they should try to find annie more often so the poor girl can take a nap.

Myrani, i love your avatar.
Far away from zimmy is good by the way.
Now i know why Matt hasnt got much attention yet!
he's a red shirt for when the experiment goes off.
Ensign Matt! proving how dangerous the situation is for Annie!
indeed we shall remember you forever Mack!
seriously though, we already know the experiment is gonna go off any time soon.
well its pretty much a given. We've always seen her in that state and many have already spoken about how poorly she looked when first she came onto the scene in this chapter.
That and its not so much worry about zimmy alone. Its worry for everyone around her.

Zimmy's speech is more sloppy than usual, she seems to be really messed up this time. I hope we learn more about the two experiments on Wednesday. Yes, two. The one at the power station and this one. ;D

The one at the power station and this one. ;D The LHC is nothing to worry about. The worst that will happen is that the Earth will be slowly sucked into a black hole. The experiment at Gunnerkrigg Court, now that is something to worry about. If it is disturbing Zimmy then it is definately crowbar and environment suit time. EDIT Spelunking

Zimmy says I, not we. So is Gamma not allowed out, or does she count as part of the I?
So either Zimmy's special brand of crazy is susceptible to science, or it's an etheric experiment, or, knowing the Court, it's both. I wonder if the Donlans are involved? They're the biggest science/etheric people we've got in the comic, I think.
I only just noticed that the Gunnerkrigg font uses capitals and lowercase letters interchangeably. Wow, I'm slow. I also theorize that this represents the harmonious mingling of scientific and etheric principles.

I think Tom and Zimmy are related. The pointy teeth, the dark circles around the eyes, the... um... spiders... ? Also, I mean that in a good way! Zimmy's pretty cool.

It is VERY BAD for something to screw with Zimmy's head. Given her ability to warp reality and her tendency to hallucinate nightmarish things, I'd think messing with her head would be exceptionally dangerous. Especially since it doesn't look like it's on purpose. It's a different matter if they were doing something deliberate to try and help her gain control.
Also "I thought it was night!" Can't she see? I don't recall any evidence in the past that the mess around her eyes keeps her from seeing anything... Or is she even more screwed up right now than she looks?

Also "I thought it was night!" Can't she see? I don't recall any evidence in the past that the mess around her eyes keeps her from seeing anything... Or is she even more screwed up right now than she looks? Well, Zimmy tends to see things that other people don't see, and she is aware of it. So darkness might not be a very reliable indicator for her that it is in fact night. She doesn't sleep, either, so I'd imagine keeping track of time is a bit of a problem for her.

Today strip is plainly fantastic. The previous 3 or 4 ones were really good, but today's really gorgeous. Also, I love Gamma and I love the Gamma/Annie interaction. Wow.
I Theorize Zimmy thinks it's day because she sees other types of energy (etheric waves!) as we see normal light, like insects that can see ultraviolet and snakes that see infrared.

Since Zimmy doesn't sleep, her concept of night and day is probably different from ours. Time to sleep and time to wake can only be measured by the behavior of the people around her, because it's all the same for her. Seeing that it's dark doesn't mean a thing to her, but having as much as eight people wandering around made her doubt her judgment of time. Remember the last time you asked yourself "wait, what time is it"? That's how Zimmy felt just now.

Does anyone know what the Polish word means? It seems to translate as "honour" or "worship". Does anyone know what they mean by this as online translators don't give much insight.

Personally, I think (and hope) the direction this chapter is going is like this: When the experiment begins, something bad's gonna happen to Zimmy. And everyone there is going to witness it first-hand. Either her powers are going to go haywire and allow everyone there to see what she sees constantly or something like that.
Which will lead to everyone but Annie and Kat (maybe everyone AND Kat. She isn't as on 'close' terms with the two as Annie is) to think Zimmy's even worse than she is. Annie will take sympathy because she has some semblance of how it looks when reality seems to be warping around you. Maybe Gamma'll pass out and Annie will help watch over Zimmy until whatever the experiment does ends.

I think Gamma and Annie combined would not be enough to tune down Zimmy this time... let's see what happens when the giants bug come out to play

If that thing out there is screwing with Zimmy, then it has to be pretty darn paranormal.
Maybe it has something to do with the Tic Tocs? They also screw with Zimmy.

I'm strugging to picture the layout of the lake and the "compound". Is it circular with a circular lake in the middle? It the place across the water an artificial island? What exactly does the wall go around?
I only just noticed Annie's eyeshadow changed. Looking back it has actually changed a while ago and has no doubt been commented on. It looks good like that.

A giant tic-tic that has an internal furnace that builds MORE tic-tocs!
So they need to make their way over there. Tis gonna be scary.
One thing about the LHC that i thought was scary isnt that there is all this speculation about destroying the earth and all that, but that there are already future plans to put together something even LARGER. I dunno, shouldn't we be using that energy for something like, curing cancer or something?
