I am not surprised that Annie F got more votes than Annie C. More readers probably see Annie F as "the real Annie", so it makes sense that she'd receive more votes. Given that Annie C also had a bad attitude I don't find it surprising that she wouldn't even make it to the top ten.
I am not surprised that Annie beat Kat. While I thought the opposite would occur that could just be a matter of me misunderstanding what the average reader finds interesting/compelling/relatable.
What genuinely surprises me is that there is some character that apparently beat both Kat and Annie to the top spot. From context I suspect it is either Tony or Renard or votebot shenanigans to make one of the true non-contenders reach the top spot.

The gender split for votes seem to be pretty evenly matched. We shall see with the winner where the scale tips. I realized this because I was comparing dresses and I feel Paz almost deffo made #1 there

That's the thing you see. As a scumbag, he can potentially become a not-scumbag at some point in the future. He even seems to be making some tentative steps in that direction. I would like to see him continue on this path, and to me at least this makes him a very compelling character. Stopping abusive behavior doesn't absolve from previous abusive behavior. That didn't deter people from voting Parley as their seventh favourite character either.

Stopping abusive behavior doesn't absolve from previous abusive behavior. That didn't deter people from voting Parley as their seventh favourite character either. Parley being physical with Smitty is kids horsing around stuff. Tony is an adult who abused his child to the point she had a dissociative episode. This is the kind of false comparison child abusers use to get away with stuff in the real world too. FFS. Eta: These kind of forum discussions about Tony's abusive behaviour back when it was front and centre in the strip definitely contributed to why GC was not fun in that time period and I think Tom made missteps in how he wrote it. Let's leave it there considering this is meant to be a fun poll.

If you mean to say Parley behaved abusively, I don't see how you could interpret her behavior that way. The worst she did was being annoying to Smitty. (And Smitty could serve that right back) Meanwhile, I continue to feel bad for Court Annie. Now she has it rougher in a meta way too! But I noticed she seems to have her laser finger on stand by.

Yeah, Parley/Smitty seemed like playful needling. He clearly enjoyed the teasing as he said he put up with it because she was "hot as Hell." (LAUGHING ON LINE)
Rey pulled off a real dark horse victory, huh?
(That, or Tom is gonna troll us with a boxbot victory).

Are we actually going to meet #1 tomorrow or will all of next week be devoted to finding out who they are? Just wondering what happens for the rest of the break.

I am one of those people not surprised Courtnie got fewer votes than Frannie. I'm surprised she managed as many as she did (about 8% of the max possible, versus Frannie's nearly 32% – I was expecting 5-6% of the max possible, because of how little insight we've had into Courtnie's life versus Frannie's immediately after the split, and how unsympathetic she seemed at first).
But good for her, on the current tally, she's in 11th place, just below Shadow by just about 50 votes and just above Smitty.
*clears throat* B!O!X!B!O!T!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's probably going to be Rey? Which is a shocker, to me. I'd place Rey below the likes of Zimmers and Jones. But Rey has definitely been with us from the beginning and has many layers.
The other upset-possibility is Tony. Whatever you may think about Tony as a person (terrible and unforgivable or terrible but forgivable), he's a super interestingly written character with a deep tragedy and mystery about him. Tony is as good a character as Oedipus, imho. Classical archetype. Devastatingly tragic life story. Blameworthy. Tragic set of voluntary choices. Lives in his own personal Hell both because of and in spite of his choices. But also, kind of caught in a horrible fateful game of divine forces he has no hope to control, even as he wishes he did, and even as he strives to try to do it anyway. I mean, novelistically, he's compelling. Fun and hilarious? No. Enjoyable? Only aesthetically. But highly aesthetically fascinating.
EDIT: The Tony/Antimony and Oedipus/Antigone parallels are actually super salient to me now and I hadn't thought about it before. Huh.

It really didn't help that Court Annie's introduction was her being unreasonably cruel to Forest Annie out the gate, and then later became more sympathetic to... well, herself.
Also I voted for Rey so I hope he gets his crown like the king he is.

I'm really surprised Rey got number one! I expected Kat to win. I mean, it's gotta be Rey, right? Unless Boxbot sneaks in an upset victory or there's a gag. I hope he gets a really cute little bowtie.
It is definitely not Tony. If it is Tony I will eat my hat. Even if he has a number of fans, there's no way he would ever beat Kat and Annie, the main characters of the comic. A significant number of people still highly dislike him based on the whole thing where he y'know just a little kinda sorta abandoned a child who had just lost her mother for three years and behaved so callously towards her she was convinced her mother could not possibly have really loved him. Controversial guy, that one. Not really what I'd call a fan favorite.

I will vomit blood into my own mouth if Tony is the top pick. He's just such a viscerally abhorrent person. It would be like voting Diego as a top 10 pick because the horrible horrible horrible things he did were narrativly interesting. At least Coyote has the excuse of not being human for his warped ethics and cruel behavior. Tony...does not.
...though revealing he really is a robot or some form of eldritch horror born from the Ether would improve my taste for the man considerably.
Also I can't imagine Rey not being top 10, so I am assuming Fox-Dad is taking home the cake. It has to be.

I'll be the black sheep: I voted for Tony. He's pretty messed up, but he is a really REALLY interesting character in my humble opinion. So many secrets, so much impact on the story before he even APPEARED in the story, so many connections to other characters. He doesn't have to be a good guy to be compelling.

I wonder if Annie and Annie split the Annie vote, with Annie taking votes away from Annie?
In any (Annie) case, I expect to see City Face wearing a tuxedo tomorrow.

FFS. That didn't deter people from voting Parley as their seventh favourite character either. If you mean to say Parley behaved abusively, I don't see how you could interpret her behavior that way. He clearly enjoyed the teasing as he said he put up with it because she was "hot as Hell." (LAUGHING ON LINE) First of all, I did not intend to "compare" any fictional or real person's behavior with each other or excuse anything, and, frankly, I feel a little insulted from the implication. Second, fine that you interpret Parley's past behavior as friendly ribbing or similar, but to me she came across as an obnoxious bully. When looking at Andrew's face in all the panels she is ridiculing, hitting or pinching him, grabbing him in a headlock, forcing him to accompany her for lunch which he did not want, or yelling at everyone about how he ruins everything, do you see him enjoying all of this? I see him being obviously uncomfortable. Even Annie noticed that she treated him like crap. Maybe I am especially sensible to seeing someone being repeatedly touched, grabbed and held against their will, especially by a bigger and stronger person, and to that occurence being dismissed by adults as "playful" or similar. Maybe some of these things triggered me specifically because of specific memories from my own days as a child. Maybe at some point she apologized off-panel for her past behaviour. But had I been in Andrew's place, after her declaration of love my answer would have been along the lines of "If that's how you treat your beloved, you can shove your 'love' where the sun doesn't shine." By the way, allowing someone to treat oneself badly because one finds that person attractive is not the same as actually enjoying said treatment.
