Am I the only one that when reading the fifth panel was thinking of maffia?
"That is a real nice plant you have there. Would be a shame if, y'know, someone burned it."
Joking aside, so Yggdrassil gets watered with time itself, makes sense for a World Tree.

I was reading the fifth panel thinking, "Isn't Skuld in two places at once in this comic?"
[edit]But sadly on rereading she isn't.[/edit]

Is that a sapling of Yggdrasil they're carrying too? ? Timeseed cookie for you I was reading the fifth panel thinking, "Isn't Skuld in two places at once in this comic?" [edit]But sadly on rereading she isn't.[/edit] Rather than two places at the same time, the Norns sometimes are at two times at the same place 1 1What do you mean, everyone can do that?

I was reading the fifth panel thinking, "Isn't Skuld in two places at once in this comic?" [edit]But sadly on rereading she isn't.[/edit] What would that even mean, for her? For Skuld? Not much, just that she can accomplish her duties and whatever else she wants to do more efficiently from her point of view. It might be a criteria for deciding if a Norn is a god (along with other criteria). For Kat and Antimony it would mean that their experiences are diverging. For the Gunnerverse, that might have implications. Back when Brinnie was speaking the Norns had their faces concealed with speech bubbles but they didn't have hair showing, which goes against what previous panels would predict. If the Norns could be in more than one place at once and didn't have features in the sight of etheric beings it would be evidence, though not conclusive evidence, for the continuum theory that I've been working.

See? It was far easier than anyone could possibly imagine: they only needed a universal remote control.

Is that a sapling of Yggdrasil they're carrying too? ? Timeseed cookie for you Om nom. I'm a bit surprised it's the tree itself instead of an offshoot but everything starts somewhere. Two questions poking at my brain right now are how Kat is going to get back there and why are the Norns even helping her in the first place? There must be a shoe of some kind about to drop.

There must be a shoe of some kind about to drop. Shoe: *drops in the timestream* Jones: Suddenly I'm wearing a shoe.

I stand corrected on how helpful these Norns would be. It went from "We're here to give you some cryptic, not all that helpful affirmation of what you already want to do" to "Yo, you wanna use our time well to repair your plot? First go is free."
Reminds me of a D&D game I had a few months ago where the question came up of what'd happen if you drank liquid time. Try it, Kat, I need to write this down.

Kat would turn into a time bagel. Or a tree.

Why is the future version of Yggdrasil a sapling, by the way? It's actually much bigger in the future. But people only ever visit in the present, no matter when that is.

Hopefully now all the people getting their panties in a twist because the Norns hadn't been explicitly shown with Annie C.'s hairstyle, which must of course mean that she is not the real Annie, can calm down.
Regarding panel one of today's page, I'll just repeat something I posted some time ago:

Does anyone else wonder what this deal will cost? Usually one doesnt get to just use the time stream with technology that was just provided (Kat didnt actually invent it this time). And getting reality shattering powers to use is usually at a hefty price.
Or do the norns just hand it out because of the time paradox that they just closed upon? (AKA: we give you this power because we already gave it to you or else you would not be here to ask for it!).
I do find getting godly powers because your mom went to school with someone the godly power giving out people know is a bit fishy, is all. Lets hope it doesnt cost Kat something she really would like to have in the future, but doesnt really need now. Like her soul.

Why is the future version of Yggdrasil a sapling, by the way? The tree, like Skuld, has its whole arboreal life in front of it.

Yes, I can. I was thinking that either Court Annie saw the Norns looking like Forest Annie (and what would that mean?), or she saw them looking like herself but it would've thrown off the symmetry to add an extra set of Norn Annies. It seems the latter is the case. Ah yes, The Legend of Kat: The Toucan of Time. Classic game. Or do the norns just hand it out because of the time paradox that they just closed upon? (AKA: we give you this power because we already gave it to you or else you would not be here to ask for it!). This is the explanation I favor -- the ineffable one. "We helped you because we always have."

Skuld is Benjamin Buttoning Yggdrasil with the ether, and the world will end when it becomes a seed again.

She'd better keep a good handle on that remote. It'd be a shame if a certain zealot got their hands on it and she had to, I dunno, level up and rectify matters. man, this tinfoil mask's a bit snug

It's a good thing they made the technology depend on the well, it explains multiple visits in a single timeline while also demanding that it can only be used with supervision (one does not simply sneak into Asgard) PS: either that or all the snooping and saving will be done in this chapter and it will end with Ysengrin breaking it at a specific Court meeting Hopefully now all the people getting their panties in a twist because the Norns hadn't been explicitly shown with Annie C.'s hairstyle, which must of course mean that she is not the real one, can calm down. Yeah, but this proves beyond doubt (if Urd's word wasn't proof enough) that the Norns appearances are not versions of the people seeing them, they're just mimicking their appearances for some reason, since both Annies were the same at the portrayed age

Are they going to ask the Norns about the Seed Bismuth, they seem like the kind of people you would ask about things like that.

Annie: Wait, before we go. Can you tell me how Gunnerkrigg Court was built?
Norns: The Court? It grew from the Seed Bismuth.
Annie: But–
Norns: Please.
Kat: *CRACK*
Annie: AGAIN WITH THIS

Annie-Skuld has the same hairstyle she's had since the beginning, and Annie-Urd still has the long hair.
