Anje now has her thinking cap on.
Next page it is revealed that Anje's computer is a mainframe enmeshed in her handkerchief.

So will Anja be able to understand the potential of a paradox, or is she in for a major headache?

So will Anja be able to understand the potential of a paradox, or is she in for a major headache? I feel a 'Well I'm not quite sure how that's possible but..." coming on.

But what use did Young Anja and Donny have of knowing there were old robots down there? They never got 'em to work, and they didn't contribute to their work? So for Kat it would've been enough to just "show them the storage space".
So I'm STILL firmly in the corner of "the TicTocs always existed, they're a Diego (or earlier) creation meant to remember the Old Guard. They autonomously saved Annie, and Kat's current is creation is just an imitation."
Doesn't explain the Thousand-Eye moniker, but it does stop my EXISTENTIAL DREAD VIS-A-VIS TIMELOOPS.

My speculation is that while they didn't get the robots to work, it contributed a lot to the System they are using now. (and in fact was instrumental to keeping Loup at bay, which may be a reason Kat made sure they found the warehouse)

Or is that by-product of the tick-tock programmed to safe Annie. And don't Kat exactly how the programming work.

What if something important happens if Annie dies? Something more than Kat mourning for her friend?
What if there's some secret held within Annie, perhaps originally possessed by her mother and passed on through their elemental bond?

I like how Anja quickly starts thinking in terms of the internal logic of time travelling instead of claiming that it's impossible. Pretty good imitation then, for never having seen one. they uncover the space so when this Kat comes with Shadow, robot and Annie they find it and the lamps are pre-set I don't really think not having a floodlight in place would have stopped Annie, Kat and Renard from exploring the basement.

Alternatively: is it possible Diego (or someone earlier) was a previous incarnation of the mecha-god, and being able to create a perfectly accurate Tic-Toc without having to examine one first is just a perk common to all incarnations? Diego hasn't shown any signs of being associated with the mecha-god up to this point, but between creating an arrow that could bind someone's soul within the Ether- a binding strong enough to look like an endless maze to Annie, while also being simple enough for a theoretical future incarnation to undo- and being regarded by all the original Seraph models as their creator...

Maybe in a future timeline, a mecha-goddess Kat sent the Tic-Tocs back with some simple code: Here's the timeline that created me (variable array?) -> Go back in time -> Take steps to ensure this timeline happens(save Annie, show parents warehouse, etc.) -> Self-replicate when needed. (A flowchart would describe it better.)
Perhaps, future Kat believed their might be some time shenanigans to destroy here, and sent a relatively non-intrusive agent to intervene.

Well, I never liked Kat's assumptions about how the time loop functioned, so I'm hoping that Anja will provide an alternate explanation.
I mean, we only have Kat's word that there's a proto-Kat out there who lost an Annie and never got it back.

The Court is mostly empty functional buildings, so she could choose any of those and either no one would notice or care. Now, an old storage with a secret hatch leading to a big ornate room filled with seemingly impossible robots that look too good to be just sculptures, that's something you should show your aspiring technodaughter

She's a creator goddess; her intuition is sufficient... if myths are consistent, she could have made one out of cotton wool and dinner forks and it would have worked.

That always sounded "official" to me (she also had the key), as in, in the court's files this specific unit is marked as being Anja Donlan's warehouse.

i mean they were probably 15-16 when the tic-toc showed them the warehouse and she kept it as hers for maybe 20 years

And thus Kat had to make sure she would get the cool warehouse instead of just a box somewhere, so she instructed the Tic-Toc to capture Anja's interest in filling the papers for that particular one. Otherwise she'd either get a plain one from her mom or be instructed on how to get her own officially
