An unexpected scene change. Looks like that lake water is for now on the forground...with some dark clouds brewing in the background.
I wonder why the Annies are still so miffed. I mean, they could have a crush on Eglamore. But that feels iffy to me considering the hostility they have shown they feel towards him and his long-standing obsession with their mother (maybe that part is now over with him hooking up with Idra) But on the other hand, they would not be the first ones that love makes act in strange ways.

He left some of his beard on. He listened when Idra said she liked it.

He left some of his beard on. He listened when Idra said she liked it. I thought Eglamore mentioned shaving in the previous page just as an excuse to excuse himself out of the (embarassing) situation.

Hmm. At first, I thought the Annies were just embarrassed, but the grey cloud over their heads kind of suggests that they're upset/sad? Maybe Eglamore was their crush after all...

Only three workers? Not much of a team, unless they picked the best of the best. I am quite touched by them grinning in panel 3. I too have moved from my country of birth, and remember well how proud I was of my first job in the new country: it was like being proved useful. (Although Idra might have contributed to their good spirits, e.g. by walking in front of them.) Oh, and Idra slips into positions of command quite naturally, doesn't she. I wonder if she is in fact a person of some standing within the elf community. She definitely doesn't hesitate to speak to Khepi the matriarch of reputable Anwyn family as an equal, and is not really rebuked for that. Next in line to be the O'Kerrigan matriarch, maybe? If Annies do have a secret crush on Eglamore, they are probably quite disillusioned by now.

[eyes folks freshly wondering if the Annies' upset has to do with personal feelings about Eglamore] Welcome. I'm your host, and I've been here the whole time. Eglamore has always clearly had a hang-up (NON-ROMANTIC, obviously) about Annie because she's the child of his first/only love. Besides the striking temperamental and physical resemblances, Annie might have been Eglamore's daughter if things had gone differently. For better or worse, Annie's always known that, as plainly as she understood Renard's attachment to her - she's seen as her own person, of course, but that surfeit of affection and care sprang from a love for Surma. Annie has chafed under Eglamore's concern before (the attempted removal of her uniform tie to avoid a potential "noose," the talk in his office, and the come-to-Jesus moments in the wisps' nest and after Ysengrin attacked her being just a few), but knew it was always there and never really sought to end it. Now somebody new comes and interrupts an old dynamic that was about as reliable as the sunrise. Logically, nothing should change. But perhaps if Surma was the underlying tether and Eglamore appears to have moved on, that might emotionally register as the diminishing of care, that the torch he'd carried for the previous firehead girl (who always remains pivotal to her daughter) is guttering.

That diesel generator (seen in panel 1) must create quite some exhaust for the dark cloud in panel 5. Only three workers? Not much of a team, unless they picked the best of the best. I am quite touched by them grinning in panel 3. I too have moved from my country of birth, and remember well how proud I was of my first job in the new country: it was like being proved useful. (Although Idra might have contributed to their good spirits, e.g. by walking in front of them.) I thought exactly the same! Only three people? But I love the third panel. They are proud and happy being able to do something useful, something they are good at. It also reminds me of some of the best moments I had at my own work. Not sure about that... I would expect her to be living with her family then, if she was of such great importance. (Also she seems a bit young to be next in line to be the matriarch.)

Well, yes, assuming they're still around after the disastrous events of the past several months. If the O'Kerrigan clan largely bore the brunt of the violence and there are very few or even none left, it could explain Idra's bitter words to Khepi, the lonely way she was introduced, her apparent "field promotion" to speaker for her family, her overwrought self-sufficiency, her (ahem) intimacy with a powerful member of the former opposition, and her panicked attempts to gain social status at Court by wearing conspicuous clothing and throwing her weight around.

She could still be the oldest daughter (assuming that the position of head of family is strictly matrilineal). And yes she was in the deep forest... but she does not say she was there alone. So, you know, maybe. But mostly, 'being next in line' was the first example of 'position of some importance' which came to my mind.

Art error discovered:
The silhouettes of the first panel are obviously from left to right meant to be Annie C, Annie F, Eglamore, Idra, and the three unnamed elves.
Yet when we change perspective by 180 degrees the two Annies remain in the same left to right order.
I suspect mr. Siddell made a mistake when filling in the silhouettes.

Idra's official status in any clan remains to be seen but I would describe her as one of those people who know they are attractive, who like getting attention using their looks and compete with/punch down at others on that basis, then wheedle and negotiate that attention into unofficial social standing... thus her love of form-fitting clothes which aren't favored among her people, and why she talks to leaders the way she does. ...and if she doesn't have any official status as a leader but will show bobs and vegana use her looks to gain power and influence that may also explain why she was alone in the deep Wood far away from the rest of the folk that day "Loup" froze everything. I'm interpreting the cloud as the residual awkwardness the Annies were feeling.
Think back to when you were a teen (or for some of you... now). All of this shit would be SO AWKWARD, feelings or no feelings. And given Annie and Eglamore's history... even more so.
I do find it quite hilarious that Eggers decided to wear that same red shirt after all.

Hmm, what makes you think tree elves were harmed in the last few months? I admit we have very little information to work with, only bits and pieces, but as far as I understood the story until now, all elves except Idra (Khepi: "Why are you the only one of us left untouched?") were simply frozen in time with the rest of the forest, and then ejected after Annie's last visit ( the ones we see appear to be confused but unharmed). We have no evidence Loup attacked or killed any of them. I read Idra's statement as "my family was affected, just as yours" as both clans O'Kerrigan and Anwyn having suffered through the same ordeals. (It is odd though that we have never seen any of Idra's family members...wonder if this was intentional?) I'm not even sure Idra was speaking for her family (or even endorsed by her family) back then, but rather was asked by the Court to accompany Annies and Smithy, to gain Khepi's trust.
Not sure about that... I would expect her to be living with her family then, if she was of such great importance. (Also she seems a bit young to be next in line to be the matriarch.) She could still be the oldest daughter (assuming that the position of head of family is strictly matrilineal). And yes she was in the deep forest... but she does not say she was there alone. Indeed, she does not say she was alone. Although if she wasn't, does that not make it her being unaffected even more strange? If she was the only elf in the area, an explanation would have been that Loup left the whole area unaffected and created the tunnels to get monsters into the Court, not realizing a single elf was being left out of the time freeze. If she was not the only elf there, then she must have either been left out deliberately, or be more than she seems, being able to shrug off Loup's divine powers (remember even superhuman, immortal, indestructible Jones could not withstand those powers, being frozen in time and tossed off the planet's face).
Anyway, we have very little to work with, here, and all I am saying is based on my understanding and interpolation of the few tidbits we were given so far.

However, when I looked through this chapter I found that they've stayed on the same side of each other the same way on all panels, apart from this silhouette-panel.
