So that's what being thrown in at the deep end looks like, when done properly.

Well, at least we got confirmation that the representation interfaced into bucketbot's mind was mimicking the Little Mermaid's pose. Also:

Yes, the Little Mermaid reference seems to have been exceptionally apt in that the robots gain a capacity they've only longed for in the past through receiving a new body. I remember the story. I sincerely hope that trading the old body for the new doesn't result in "every time she took a step, it felt like she was walking on sharp knives", much less the idea that they can only gain a "soul" (whatever that might be) by "marrying" a human. Love, as we know, makes people (synthetic as well as natural) do strange things.

So, we're seeing the process of the robot transferring out of the bucket... but quoth the (not)angel: "It's up to you to fill it" and the robot doesn't appear to be doing anything except looking nervous... or at least robot hasn't done anything we can see. I guess that would mean that these events we're seeing on this page are the experiences resulting from the start of autonomic and unconscious activity. The waves rising and falling as much as they are may be breathing, or possibly the start-up surge of electricity rushing through the chip as the power comes on. The boom may be the first heartbeat. It's probably best to believe the liquid splashing everywhere is just the circulatory system starting up; ignore the other possibilities that could make people just waking up yell "wah!" Also: Fascinating as all this is, the robot will probably learn to ignore most of this data quickly.

"Wah!"
The feeling you get as your roller coaster starts climbing the lift hill.

Hold on tight. And of course, we don't get an answer to bucketbot's question on the last page. Well, it's bucket bot's own fault for having a sudden flood of sensations and emotions with just the possibility of this revelation
