For me, it's "a handful of dirt".
It's a tender chapter, it is pretty, it works well technically, the plot line it contains can stand on its own (as opposed to my second favourite "Red returns"), which seems more elegant to me.
what's yours ?

Huh, I voted for a handful of dirt as well, but there is only one vote registered for them.

S1 was really cool, had lots of funny scenes and I really like the way the robot fight was drawn. In particular the dust effect, panel 3 on page 425 and the *ZASH*The art and characters evolved too. Only the ending of the Kat flashback storyline could have been better.

A handful of dirt is very good. And I really loved the latest one, too. Looking back ojn it, it seems bizzare how much the artwork developed without me noticing.

Oh the Fangs of Summertime, definitely. Come one, we got to see a whole big, fat LOAD of characters who we haven't seen before, a cool fight scene. Elg's jumping from how to house, Reynardine, the gardener, SPANKIES!
Come on. It was awesome.

Gonna have to go with fangs, although it was hard to decide on that over handful of dirt, broken glass, mainly involves robots, and the latest S1.

My absolute favorite chapter was "Dr. Disaster vs. the Creepy Space Aliens from Outer Space". Even though it was an aside that didn't visibly advance the main plot, the sheer awesomeness of the pulp sci-fi homage totally made up for it. Plus we got some character development for Annie, and the rare sight of her kicking butt and blowing stuff up.
"A Ghost Story" is a very, very close second, again because of Annie's character development, and also because she was so freaking adorable at age six, and because her marching into that spectral inferno was one of the most badass things ever.

"Dobranoc, Gamma" definitely. We get to see Zimmy's lighter side and the strange girls get character developed to no end. And the countdown to the storm was amazing. Icing on the cake.

I voted for A Handful Of Dirt, but it's pretty much my equal favourite with The Shadow and the Robot, The Medium Beginning, and I also quite liked The Fangs of Summertime, though probably not quite at much as the other three. It was so hard to decide!

I'm such a sucker for pulp sci-fi pastiches.

suddenly I remembered I'd made this poll and when I checked out all your answers, with motivations, I got me an urge to re-read all the chapters --- who cares about laundry and washing up when there's GKC ! *gril*

I have to choose just one? The big chapters plot-wise have been Broken Glass, Fangs of Summertime and S1, but I'm tempted to pick a more low-key one. Red Returns wins on comedy value because it's bloody hilarious, but so is Docter Disaster...... I honestly can't decide
