In all of this, I'm sort of seeing some parallels to the plan that was cooked up to address the problem of Jeanne. The strengths of everyone taken into account, plan Bs sort of prepared but not really, even a bit of misdirection.
Of course the critical difference here is that with that plan, the person being blindsided was the person who'd been trapped for hundreds of years and actually needed outside help, not the person(s) whose trust that had been built up over years of organic friendship was impulsively taken advantage of.
Here's to hoping Kat's scooby gang here actually learns something from this, so far it's looking like "you had to fight for your life? well good thing you didn't die haha" and it sort of rubs me the wrong way to be honest.

Maybe Kat and the rest had just been watching the early part of "The Parent Trap" (where the camp staff decides to similarly solve the problem about the twin girls constantly fighting each other by sticking them in their own cabin, apart from everyone else) and thought it was a good idea. In "the Parent Trap," the twins didn't have access to focused-fire laser beams.

Convoluted plan to get them to get along or not, Fannie is still new here and I think Paz is still justified in treating her with some suspicion. Also, Paz is not personally responsible for this plan; the ring leader seems to be Kat. Maybe, but Paz did not tell Frannie she did not trust her or anything, she treated her like the real Annie, and threatened her out of the blue. She called Fannie "whatever you are". That is not treating her like the real Annie. Convoluted plan to get them to get along or not, Fannie is still new here and I think Paz is still justified in treating her with some suspicion. True, and that's a good reason to NOT lock Court!Annie in a bunker with her without any surveillance besides a non-fireproof pseudo-dragon who didn't even step in to help against the Ashray... They can't have it both ways... if they don't trust Forest!Annie, they shouldn't have done this... If they trust her, Paz is being jerk... and while I know Paz wasn't the mastermind behind the plan, I think she has enough pull with Kat to stop it.. Kat tries very hard for Fannie. Paz wanted to support her. Whatever Fannie is. That's almost exactly her own words. You're right that this makes Paz rather nuanced in how she treats Fannie, but I don't think that makes Paz a jerk. I mean yes, making threats is a bit impolite, but I think it's more a sign of distrust, not meanness. Relevant page: www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=2098

That is not treating her like the real Annie. You are right, I totally overlooked that third panel. I read the first two, where Paz calls her "Annie" and said "Kat tries very hard for you", which to me was adressing her as the real Annie. The third panel indeed contradicts that behavior. Hmm...
