"Fly, you fool..."
In all seriousness though, It's probably a good thing Parley or Eggs didn't come along.

Now I'm hoping Ys has absorbed Coyote's tendency to self-own as well, and gets himself completely cleaned up by a falling object he may not have paid enough attention to when he was throwing it.....

I remember someone suggested throwing Jones into space as a way of getting rid of her a while ago. That person gets the cookie of the day.
But anyway, it's just Annie against Ys now. Somehow I think he won't see her as a representative of the Court. And I hope Annie remembers the advice from Coyote: 'stand your ground'

But don't worry. People will spread the word and start a religion to worship Jones the Stone who Ascended. This day will be the main holiday.

Seems like the perfect setup to bring Dr. Disaster back into the narrative.
On an unrelated topic, Annie looks very Surma-like in panel two.

Oh, wow! Annie is at the mercy of an all powerful double god and not even Jones can do anything to protect her! No one could've predicted this one!
For real, I'm only assuming that Coysengrin threw Jones into left field so he could talk alone with Annie, but if that's the case, it just confirms my thoughts that sending Annie into the forest was a very bad idea, protection or not. Coysengrin got rid of Jones as easily as if he was flicking a mosquito off his arm. If he wants Annie to die or get hurt for whatever reason, she's doomed. There's no failsafe for this one.

Putting her in orbit IS the best way of getting rid of Jones. Judging by what we can see, she got shot straight up, so she won't be on a stable orbital trajectory. Assuming acceleration ends before she makes escape velocity, she'll come right back down again, although likely a bit off to the west and possibly far to the south.

Coysengrin got rid of Jones as easily as if he was flicking a mosquito off his arm. If he wants Annie to die or get hurt for whatever reason, she's doomed. There's no failsafe for this one. If sending Annie to speak with Ysengrin is a bad idea, how should the situation be handled? The Court can't just sit behind the force field dome and hope that Ysengrin will lose interest in them after a while. Someone has to come up with something to handle this problem. If sending Annie to speak with Ysengrin is out of the question, then so is diplomacy; nobody else has gotten as close to Ysengrin as she has. I think that the Court's best alternative would be to leave the area - not mere "shifting everyone to a part of the Court's complex farther away from Gilltie Wood", as it's already done, but abandoning the area altogether and returning to the regular human world, and, if they absolutely *have* to continue those experiments with the ether (which I honestly think is a misguided goal, and one that they'd be better off abandoning), look for some other remote place to conduct them in, preferably without etheric beings living nearby. And if something like that can only be done in a region where etheric beings live, this time learn from those past mistakes with Gilltie Wood and not antagonize them (though with the potential problem that manipulating the ether would be likely to antagonize the etheric neighbors). But I fear that the Court administration will be too stubborn to even consider that approach.

Jones: "welp, this is happening."
Assuming she's being shot into space, in a weird way, I'm kind of happy for Jones. She gets to experience something new! But oh geez, I hope Tom isn't going to "kill off" Jones by making her float in space for a few eons.

Well, that's what she gets for trying to steal Pikachu.
Do you think Coysengrin is smart enough, to use Jones's reentry as a weapon? He threw her pretty well. Who's to say his aim isn't just as good. Depending on how high she goes, Jones is an indestructible, high kinetic, mass driver right now. Plus, she seems to just pass through the Court shield. I doubt it, but that would be very clever tactic against a single target within the shield, whether it be E1 (if E1 matters) or the power station.

This was something that I should haven't ever have mused openly about. Now we just get to wonder if jones is in a directly vertical sub-escape velocity trajectory (and will land close to where she was launched from), a parabolic arc (and will land somewhere far away), a standard earth orbit (and will land somewhere, someday) a completely exo-atmospheric orbit (and will float around earth effectively indefinitely until rescued by some means), or on an escape velocity and trajectory (and will not return to earth's gravity well).

Bonus page prediction: Jones walking home along the ocean floor. And then she bumps into the flying octopus. And then they fight ocean crime

I remember someone suggested throwing Jones into space as a way of getting rid of her a while ago. That person gets the cookie of the day. Was curious, so went and did a search. From what I could find of note (in the forums) concerning space and Jones (and I'm paraphrasing): Jones would do well in space -ryos Nov 6, 2012 (During Jones' chapter) Maybe Jones is planning on interspace travel, and the Court seems like a promising place for that -ryos Nov 9, 2012 (During Jones' chapter) When the world ends, she'll float around space or end up in a star -SeƱor Goose Mar 8, 2014 ("Whose side are you on?" thread) ***I think this is the winner for saying it flat out (and ensuing discussion):Discussion about being sent to place where you can't do anything, specifically space -jda Feb 20, 2018 [1951] (Ys eating Coyote [JESUS, that was February]) Honorable mention: Coyote would fight dirty and hurl her into space if they were to fight -pyradonis Yes, I believe Coyote's powers would affect Jones -pyradonis June 7, 2018 (Wild Speculation Thread) jda and pyradonis, come claim your cookies.
