Rey you had better not drop that important background information that everyone could have really used earlier.

Renard be like, "Must be a Tuesday." Friday's page will doubtless explore his concerning lack of concern.
Also, Eggers powed right toward the enemy. Does he want to fight Coysengrin? I want to see that.
Also also, this brings up an important oversight. The protector of the court AND his apprentice were both away, with no way to contact them, when the court needed them most. They were only summoned because of a student's actions independent of the court. Who you gonna call? In the case of the court bosses, no one, because Eglamore didn't give them a magic stick.

because Eglamore didn't give them a magic stick. ... Now, we don't know that for sure. Maybe they do have an emergency beacon too. But either they always thought it was useless or they didn't even noticed there was something going really wrong right now. Or they rely solely on Jones for reasons and only keep the guardian position for glory and show-off. And damn they're wrong if they do so. I really hope there will be epic and suspense but no death...

Gonna hear more stories from Renard about Coyote's slow manipulation and psychological abuse of Ysengrin?

I think we're more likely to hear about how it was inevitable that Coyote would overestimate the ability of Ysengrins love to overshadow the whole...power dynamic hierarchy and desire to make the humans pay. Ysengrin was only subservient to Coyote because of respecting his power and Rey would reasonably know that. Hell, the court should probably have already known that too.

ether collection station 1? could be to strategically protect Court assets, or to start the collector, suck up ether and drain Coysengrin's power??... EDIT: though E1 = white king (top leader(s) of the Court) is brilliant!

To attract/distract his attention? Good point on the beacon... why doesn't headmaster and/or head-of-Court have one? If they do, why haven't they used it?

E1 is where white king is at. I like it! Parley might be castling with the White King (head-of-Court) to protect him/her! (Perhaps protected by robot pawns....) Parley: O-O EDIT: followed by a knight move by Eggs... hopefully not a sacrifice!

Maybe he thinks, it has finally happened, we are all SO dead, so why make a fuss? ether collection station 1? could be to strategically protect Court assets, or to start the collector, suck up ether and drain Coysengrin's power??... EDIT: though E1 = white king (top leader(s) of the Court) is brilliant! Good idea with the power station, but they would probably send someone qualified to operate it. Personally I thought E1 was an armoury. But the chess thought is brilliant!

Personally I thought E1 was an armoury. That is still very possible. If E1 equals E(mergency site #)1 or something like that it's probably one of those warehouse-like buildings like where Renard was being kept prisoner. They could/should have emergency equipment (including multi-purpose things that can be used as anti-materiel weapons) and supplies for using that equipment stored in quantity SOMEWHERE, and (if they're smart) that could be a set rally-point for first responders where people can gather into units, gear up, and send and receive orders... including communicate with the higher-ups if any are currently available. It's still pretty early in the show and if they are rigid and bureaucratic then I suspect their chain of command may be ill-trained to deal with uncertainty to the point where the upper-middle types likely minding the show at this moment may freeze and await orders instead of risking making a CEM or CLM (career-limiting or -ending move). But that would be what a decentralized organization that had good emergency planning in place would do. If E1 is a code name referring to the starting position for the white king then George has probably been sent somewhere to report to (guard and/or indirectly manage) one or more VIPs, probably at a site where there's some shelter and some emergency communication gear (like a bigwig's house with an expanded panic room). That's probably a good use for her at this moment since she can't do much against Ys as long as he's using stand-off attacks and because the Court (being rigid and bureaucratic) would have a lot of trouble responding effectively without the correct people issuing the orders; if the bigwig(s) panic they may decide to move their flag to a more secure location immediately instead of waiting a bit for information to come in. And there probably is a proper emergency command center; they're expensive, require subordinates to run, have lots of flashy buttons and lights on the tech that needs to be upgraded every few years, and they're easily justified and important, therefore they are very useful in expanding someone's power base inside a bureaucracy. But if the important people panic they may even leave the Court to try to manage things from a safe distance and for direct access to important ears in the regular forces. That could delay the Court's first coordinated response by hours. If George is there to tell them what Antimony told her and Eggers and also bolster whatever forces they've got there already if need be then the odds that a good decision might be made quickly rise... somewhat. For some odd reason I hold out hope in the first possibility. I suppose I just like to be optimistic that people in high positions take their responsibilities seriously, think of security precautions as something other than optional, make sensible preparations, etc. Renard be like, "Must be a Tuesday." Friday's page will doubtless explore his concerning lack of concern. Animals settle things with tooth and claw and this has been a long time coming. Not sure lack of surprise equals lack of concern though he now knows both he and Antimony are not going to be in direct danger, which he didn't know back in #1974. Also, Eggers powed right toward the enemy. Does he want to fight Coysengrin? I want to see that.
not clear he is headed direct for Ysote... the mega-trees seem to be stretching towards, and dropping roots towards the Forest: Eggs seems to be power-jumping at roughly right angles to this, across Ysote's line-of-sight. To attract/distract his attention? I'm also having trouble figuring out which direction's which from the last couple panels but if even that is towards the Wood it doesn't necessarily mean that he's going to charge in and attack. He may be going to his office for weapons, or to scout, or both, or for Jones, or something else entirely. It's interesting that he didn't send George on ahead to cover for him while he tried to get more info from Antimony, which is what I might have done in his place since she's probably one of the most informed people in the Court about what's going on at this moment. That she's here, at least 1k but maybe as far as 3k from the bridge going by the pictures, suggests that at least seven minutes have passed since Ysengrin began his attack but probably more like eleven to twenty, perhaps a bit more. It's a bit of a gamble but blowing thirty more seconds asking Antimony one or two questions might give him some insight into why this is happening which might be useful, or if nothing else where they last saw Ys. Ys has made some ranged attacks of opportunity but after that casual swipe at the school he is now planning on upping his game, not sure what it is but it will be something that will probably hurt more. Also not sure if that was the rumble on the following page but he is very probably inside their base killing their dudes, as they say. But this is also a point where Ys' lack of knowledge about things human will probably come back to haunt him. He achieved complete tactical surprise and possibly strategic surprise (i.e. the Court has little or no plan on what to do) but if he shuts down the grid, disables cell towers, takes out equipment/supplies/personnel in the depos/hangars/barracks before it/they can be mobilized, or in any way strikes sensitive places before they start becoming active, it will probably be by accident. At best he may try for a decapitation strike and I don't think he knows who they are or where they live, except possibly the Headmaster, so it will take some time to get that information. But once he has it he can literally sniff them out. It would have been better for him to take the time to mobilize the Shadow Men so they would be ready to go after the bridge was destroyed/recreated. Even if he's got no plan and they're just following up on his attacks it would be a lot worse for the Court. Even better, he could have kept the mediums from spilling the beans while he extended a sneaky perturbance* of Wood to fill the court with his seeds (heh) before he launches any showy attacks. But if that were possible Coyote would have just upped the mind-screwing until it wasn't possible, I suspect. I'm not sure about what Eglamore-the-Protector's role is in the Court exactly. I sorta doubt he's actually man in charge of the main masses of mooks and MIBs. Best guess: Court Protector is sort of a vestigal appendage that at one point had serious pull but is now mostly honorary. Dragons, and etheric threats in general, are likely less common than they once were. Also he has been a critic of the bureaucracy which probably has cost him brown noseie points. And if all that is indeed the case then they may actually think they do not need an emergency communication method. But there probably is one. I figure Eggers should have a sat phone or something as a leash they can tug on wherever he goes. It's still pretty early in this mess; the people who should be calling him haven't gotten to it yet. Even the Donlans would probably first call/message each other and Kat, then either Anthony or Eggers, and after that maybe Antimony. If he doesn't have one perhaps there's Shadow Men observing nearby who can pass a message along. Note that his role in the Court as of yesterday is probably not the same as what it will be tomorrow, as ol' Eggs has a decent chance of taking (back?) some authority depending on where he goes, what he does, how charismatic he is, how good his timing is, and how desperate things are today. *Hey, perturbance isn't in the spell checker yet it remains a word.

Gosh, good thing Annie is wearing athleisure wear today. If I were her I would be sweatin'!
Changing thought direction entirely: Wonder what Annie's dad is up to. He might be worried about her? Like I know he's a jerk incapable of expressing himself emotionally to his daughter but he is her dad. Perhaps we'll see him soon. Though I am not sure that Annie will think to reunite with him. Knowing Annie, her next instinct might be to find Kat, or rejoin Andrew.

I'm half-expecting Reynard's next line to be "there can be only one". There can e only 1? I just figured they had a grid map of the whole court memorized. Not impossible but grids usually cover large areas so a tight enough grid to be actionable on just one letter and one number (for George to actually go somewhere specific just by those coordinates) wouldn't be something she could easily memorize. But there could be a notable location in an E-1 that she would know she should go to just by common sense. Or it could be something else, like a pier where important people are, a warehouse where needed stuff is, a parking garage where they trained so she could meet up with him after he's geared up, or even a code for some particular type of action they set up in advance.

Whilst the court is being explored through the lens of the comic, has an e1 shown up?
Who's up for an "Easter egg" hunt?

Perhaps this is more of the Court's complacency towards Gilltie Wood - a tone of "The bulk of them are just a bunch of talking animals, no match for our advanced technology and scientific learning, mere primitive savages. And Coyote - well, he's powerful, but he gave his word to leave us alone." The Court hasn't always taken this approach, of course (otherwise, the Jeanne and Reynardine events would never have taken place), but it's shown it elsewhere - for example, taking so long to find a successor to Surma as Court Medium because relations with the Forest were at a lull (without considering the possibility that they might not stay that way). I suspect the Court's been caught off-guard, and is now learning not to underestimate its neighbors. Let's hope it won't be the last lesson it learns.

I burst out laughing when Reynard heard that Ysengrin killed Coyote and took his powers and his only reaction was, "Sounds about right"
Like he's been anticipating his cousin Ys snapping, and now that he has, he's just like, "Finally. Really, it's about damn time"

I really hope there will be epic and suspense but no death... I don't want to see anyone die, either, but I think Tom would have to include deaths to show the cost of war. Assuming, of course, that it continues into full-scale war and that they don't find a way of calming Ysengrin down and getting him out of his wrathful mood in the next few pages (which would be a very difficult task, if not impossible).
