I'm confused why there are comments about him making a human-like hand on this page. He was walking around in a human shaped wood suit the entire time, complete with human-like hands. This is not some new or interesting thing to contrast with his anti-human feelings. I think hands just happen to be a lot easy to gesture/punch with than paws...

I can't recall properly, but I think Word of Tom is that in Jeanne vs. Coyote, Coyote would win? Need to confirm that. Unknown

I was hoping for Jones to step in, but then I remembered this which is kind of worrying.

Thinking more over the conversation here - the really depressing thing about this is that the Jeanne business turns into two unappealing alternatives:
1. Jeanne stays a guardian over the Annan Waters, keeping the Court safe from the Forest - but a defense based on murdering two people, trapping them as ghosts, and turning one of them into a hate-filled figure who'll attack and kill anyone who crosses her path - a protection for the Court based on rotten foundations.
2. Jeanne and her lover are freed, but leaving the Court open to attack from the Forest (as in the past few pages).
Which prompts the cry of "Can we have a third option, please?"

Panel 3 hasn't drawn much comment... the Mega-tree has thrust branches down into the ground. It somehow seems maybe connected to what Ysote is about to do... "only a fraction"ally ... Ys's got such a grin on, I'm imaging him punching the ground with his fist, which raises a narrow traveling shockwave of earth, which plows towards the tree, smashing buildings as it goes, such that the wave scores a "goal" between the tree goalposts. But maybe that is too silly.

Im hoping Annie, feeling the seismic results of Ysote's iCourt swiping, will run out, in a moment of panicked clarity suddenly realize she has the power in her to make the Court parley signal herself (without a blinker stone), and toss it up in the Ys face (a) suggesting immediate negotiations, and (b) reminding him that SHE is there, hopefully snapping him out of his power-crazed state.... Either this, or Jones having a badass moment catching Ys punch in her hand "sorry for interrupting you, I hope we may talk about this before you continue" Jones is incredibly powerful, but Coyote is stronger than Jones. Not to mention that a banished Annie could be more trouble than an Annie in the Court, where they can keep an eye on her. Tony wandered the world, and like a fool he thought he could escape the Court's eye...* I suspect most robots will be helpless, except for the Laser Cows. * Reynardine can take anything with eyes... so... he may end up the Deus Ex Machina to resolve the whole mess or bring it full circle. * Oh man if he literally comes out of a machine made by Kat ... !
I'm not counting any of the adult-types because I expect that they are going to have a super-organized, elaborate plan that might keep Ysenyote busy but will ultimately fail. And who knows what Jones will do. Probably help evacuate and then do some observation from the sidelines... it's sort of her M.O. Then again, why have her be so demonstrably powerful if she won't play some epic role in the series finale? Hm. They didn't look terribly dangerous, but the Court does have robots able to combat wood creatures. (Interestingly, they do not seem to possess colored eyes, which raises the question whether these are networked combat drones, similar to the drones on the ship.) I hope, Reynardine will not do that, because it would mean killing Ysengrin... Jones did not participate in WW2 except as a filling factory worker (that is, as if she were some ordinary human without fighting experience)...I doubt she'll suddenly decide to partake in this much smaller conflict which has only just begun. Now, if Ysengrin would deliberately attack her, that would be a different story... (still, as quoted above, with Coyote's power Ysengrin would be able to defeat even Jones, who might be immortal, but not a God). Perhaps if Annie and Kat had gone to the grown-ups about this, Anja or Donald or Jones would have found a solution for the problem - balancing the needs of Jeanne and her lover (to be set free from their wrongful imprisonment) and the needs of the Court (to be kept safe from the Forest). Though I'm not sure what that solution would have been. (I recall a few suggestions here in the past about putting a new guardian in Jeanne's place. But since that plan depended on killing two people and turning one of them into a vengeful ghost from whom nobody was safe, that would only repeat the original misdeed.) The Court could just build a platoon of robotic or automated guardians. Even the Founders could have done that with Diego's skill (remember Bullbot and S1, two fighting robots he designed). But the spiteful little man probably told the others it was not possible. Just like he devised a plan that would "work with no one else" except Jeanne. Wild speculation, I wonder if Donny has a few much larger versions of that little rocket of his stacked up in a warehouse somewhere? Ys might get a rude introduction to the 21st century here in a bit. Ouch. Seeing the speed of these things, they'd hurt a LOT, without the need for explosives...

I haven't been keeping up with every post in recent threads, but has he actually crossed the waters yet? ( This page seems to imply he's still over the ravine.) Maybe there's some sort of force-field-y that will prevent him from physically moving closer? He has not crossed the waters. Either he doesn't know Jeanne is gone and is afraid of her wrath, or has no desire to set foot on Court ground. There's something symbolic about showing your power to attack remotely from your home turf.

Jones did not participate in WW2 except as a filling factory worker. Nitpicking, this has been posted before but I can't find the link, but the filling factory explosion was in 1924, well before WWII. We don't know exactly what Jones was involved with in the war, besides assessing the strength of the bombs being dropped on the UK at the time.

You don't necessarily have to 'win' a fight outright to achieve an objective? Jones would be rather hard to dislodge and be able to shield someone with her body easily.

What madjack said, plus she probably does not know the full extent of Coyote's powers, like stopping time, which he does shortly later. Coyote's reply also hints that the two of them have, if not fought, at least threatened each other in the past, and I always wondered what kind of (doubtlessly interesting) backstory Jones and Coyote have. Woah, I always thought that scene played out during a war, and that the filling factory shown was destroyed by the Luftwaffe. I did not know women worked in such factories in times of peace even back then (or was the UK at war somewhere else in 1924?). That leaves the event when she met Mort the only we have been shown Jones during WW2. She still does not look like an active participant, which befits her own statement that she would make as few changes to society as possible. An immeasurably strong immortal being taking sides in a conflict would be a major impact anytime...

If this *is* Coyote's master plan, it's time to recall that Reynardine and Surma seemed to be close friends at one point in time. Then Rey got and used his Coy-power...
Coyote did warn Antimony about getting too close to "mean old Ysengrin". Perhaps this is the "ravine" in their relationship.

But the spiteful little man probably told the others it was not possible. Just like he devised a plan that would "work with no one else" except Jeanne. I'd thought on something along those lines, maybe linked to motion-sensors. It would certainly better fit the Court's heavily scientific tone than Jeanne, whose set-up was far closer to magic than science (everything from a vengeful ghost down to even the weaponry used being pre-gunpowder: Jeanne's sword and Steadman's arrow). Of course, the Court might not have had that kind of technology available while the Founders were alive (depending on how far back that was) - though you make a good point about the robots from Chapter Eighteen. I, too, have suspected that Diego skewed the information available to the Founders to convince them that Jeanne was the only possible means of keeping the Court from being attacked by the forest-folk. I'd like to know how much time the Founders put into investigating other possible solutions that didn't involve putting a wrathful ghost by the Annan Waters, whether they really had examined the alternate methods of defense enough to decide they weren't workable. Unfortunately, thanks to their erasing all records of their meetings (except for Diego's secret video log, of course), we'll never know - short of Kat inventing a time machine, which seems a little too "omni-competent scientist" even for her (though it might fit a certain sketch Tom drew of her a few months ago).

Not sure I follow the remarks that with Coyote's strength Ysengrin will be able to defeat Jones. Ysengrin 'only' received Coytoe's strength, and not his wisdom, his intelligence, his time-stopping abilities, and who knows what else Coyote would need to defeat Jones. So I think it is a bit premature that Ys can win against Jones. I reckon 5 billion years of experience based on her photographic memory and her own immense power may require more than just brute force to overcome.
