Looks like the Coyote's emerging straight from Ysengrin's brain. Makes sense, he's made of imagination, after all. I wonder how being devoured by Ys is going to change his perspective, though...

Its not clear (to me anyway) *what* panel 3 means... is this indicating Ys's memories flooding back in after he has eaten the shiny memory-marbles? Are Coyote's memories (or consciousness! - bicarbonat) flooding in too... maybe indicating a hostile takeover? Is this then the way for Coyote to "be Ys" - super strength version - and absolve himself of his former restrictions on messing with the Court? OR....
Is this indicating Coyote, creature of imagination, is emerging, Minerva-like, from Ys's mangled mind (-Lightice) as his way of reincarnating? Stay tuned!

Looks like Ysengrin is coming to his senses. He was pretty distraught in The Great Secret when he remembered who he was and that he had attacked Annie, so this time when he realizes he actually KILLED somebody, I imagine he won't be happy.

Even if 'Grin consumed his "body", would it stick? Coyote is everywhere. He gave his tooth to Annie, something to Renard, and there probably are more. If Lucky Eyebrows is telling you to run, there is no salvaging the situation and it is time to go But then, there's always the question how his presence earlier on affected this little incident. |

Did Coyote bite off Ys ear? THIS. Especially seeing how Ys is missing an ear in the ether too. Etheric wounds are significant. (edit: actually, not simply missing - there is something weird going on with it, assuming his etheric ears didn't just change places  . Even better.) I always considered Yssy's missing ear some kind of plothook, instead of, I dunno, a stylistic choice (like a pirates' captain eyepatch). Maybe it's time to learn more. Crazy theory territory: Coyote bit of his ear as a kind of initial intrusion allowing screwing with his mind at will. He couldn't just eat his memories willy nilly otherwise. |

As hilariously slapsticky that would no doubt be, Coyote returning right away seems pointless from a narrative perspective and also for the purpose of whatever his plan is. Widely off-topic: Based on Annie's hair length, how long wouls you said has passed since "Jeanne" ? The average person's hair grows 1/4 an inch per month. This is a very rough estimate, but I would say Annie's hair is 3 inches longer. That would mean it's been a year. However, that math is shaky and I don't think that much time is supposed to have passed in-comic. Based on my own gut feeling, I would estimate 6 months. Annie's hair could grow faster or shorter than the average person, or the length could mean nothing and just be Tom's artistic license. |

Any attack on the Court will end very poorly for the forest, which is most likely what Coyote intends the whole time. Coyote is not from the forest after all, nor even this continent. He is most likely here simply to stir up trouble, and the trouble is starting. |

The invocation of 'luck' leads to violations of causality, and a steep and slippery slope into chaos*, as explored by Larry Niven in Ringworld, and Piers Anthony in Xanth novels (eg Source of Magic). Smitty is wise to be cautious, although 'bapping' Parley in seems a good option at this time. *The diminishing 'wheeee!' sound ahead of you is Coyote, of course. |
