I agree with the OP, this could be worse! Can a fairy be unhappy with the name she's given? Is Ayilu gay for Red? Will there be more of Annie's chaste shrugging at romantic fools failing to sensibly discuss their feelings? Is Annie actually asexual or what? Will "love makes you act in strange ways" be invoked? So many questions! Annie seems aromantic asexual to me, at least. Asexual aromatic Antimony is my everything. I pray on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays that Tom and the webcomics gods will see fit to bless us and make it canon.

An asexual aromantic fire elemental. Yeah, no. What with all the symbolism in this comic, I doubt we can give credit to Annie being passionless. More likely she's just not found anyone (ahem) flammable. Incidentally, in the Kannada language spoken in the Karnataka region of India, ayilu appears to mean a sort of agitated confusion. I think this has even less to do with anything than the Urdu interpretation.

I pray on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays that Tom and the webcomics gods will see fit to bless us and make it canon. That's fair, she might be Aro! My enthusiasm for her possible-future-romance may or may not stem from my desire that she be able to fully and honestly express her emotions with someone, including (possibly extant) romantic or physical attraction. Although she's made a lot of progress since the trauma of her dad coming back, there's still a lot she keeps from Kat, Rey, and Ysengrin, who I guess are her closest friends. If Annie did ever fall in love with someone, I'm not sure she'd say so... she didn't tell Kat or anyone else about her feelings for Kamlen, however short-lived or unachievable; nor did she tell her about her trick with the fire and the blinker stone. And, as far as I can tell, she still tells one-sided stories to Kat about her father, seeming unwilling or unable to say anything bad about him, even though she knows he makes her really upset. Romance isn't necessarily the solution to all that, but for me, seeing Annie let herself truly trust other people would be cathartic.

Next panel: Annie: "But Red, her name was supposed to be Blue!" Followed by: Haha! The post I didn't make would have been exactly: Bbbbut I actually think there'll be a little more buildup to The Eyes.
