Annie's probably better at explaining what happened than Kat is. Which makes this even funnier.

Dang, missed getting the first thread by a few seconds! How did you--how did you--beat me to it?!? I've been practicing for a while, hehe I have a whole system worked out. This wasn't one of the times that I tried super hard, either. On a good day I'll have it up within 9 seconds

Ah, real Annie looks just as disheveled as her etheric self now.

Annie's going to ask Kat to explain what Annie saw, and Kat will have absolutely no idea... let alone explanation.

Yiss. Let the division form and fester, unanswered.

While the question and (temporary) answer is reasonable, I do not like the look on their faces.
Not unsurprising however.

That's some face you got there Carver!
Come on Kat, you've seen Annie clinging to sanity before. if you don't have time to give Annie a hug, you can at least hold her hand while you go back to the others.

Welp, so much for exploring her up-and-coming deityhood... oh well, time to finish Jeanne off!

I agree with Kat. As far as they know, the "life-and-death" struggle with Jeanne isn't over, and until it's resolved, they don't have the luxury for expositional conversations.

They've done a fantastic job so far, but if they don't know what the arrow will do to Jeanne, it seems they're moving forward on half a plan. Is anyone interested in them finishing this conversation? Just me then? I'm sure Tom will get to it in a year or three.

I'm looking forward to Annie drawing a very poor representation (because really, who could draw much of that by memory) of what Kat looks like in the ether.

"Kat, how did you join me in the ether?"
"I tapped you with this techno-etheric conduit I built from Diego's designs, you shouldn't have absorbed much more than 40 rem in the process."
Done.

Per, I would hope that Annie knew about Kat's green wand thing...
Anyway, I wonder how much Kat knows or suspects about what she is. That is, whenever we do have this discussion, I wonder how much it will of Annie being accusative (first few expressions on this page) and how much will be Kat confessing or contemplating, with Annie wonderstruck (last expression).

Well, maybe the freeing the green guy and the Jeanne isn't the scary, it's the fact that Kat did a THING to get into the ether

Per, I would hope that Annie knew about Kat's green wand thing... That's the thing, I don't think she did. At least not in my interpretation of the last chapter. Annie went in there without a proper backup plan; Kat had a backup plan, but didn't tell Annie about it. Come on girls, you're better than that! Kat did something to the ether, and didn't consult Annie beforehand. The result was helpful but pretty eldritchy. My interpretation of panel five is this: Annie has no idea about Kat's imminent apotheosis so she thinks Kat meddled with the ether in some dangerous way. Now she is both aghast at Kat's carelessness and concerned for her (etheric) well being. And who knows what Kat actually had to do to get the green glowy thing to work. Maybe blood sacrifice was involved.

Kat's expression makes me uneasy. What consequences will the use of that wand thing have? I don't think it will affect Annie, Kat wouldn't hurt Annie to save other people... but, what about Kat herself...
Will Kat's soul be damaged? Tied to Annie's?

I've been thinking about Annie's expression all day. I think Annie's harsh expression in panel 2 and 5 may have been her trying to muster her courage to look Kat in the face. In the last page Annie's eyes were closed each time we saw them and Annie was looking down when she put the arrow in the containment box. Annie may have been trying to avoid seeing Kat. Given the way Annie saw Kat in the maze, it may have taken all her will power to concentrate on putting the arrow away and then look at Kat. Maybe Annie half expected Kat to GOP, or go all Kathulhu, when Annie touched her. In panel 6, Annie expression is much softer, probably because Annie got past her fear and can see and feel that Kat is still Kat. I see Kat's expression in panel 7 as a look of concern about Annie's odd behavior.

Maybe blood sacrifice was involved. I agree. I think Kat made the ether-enter wand, but didn't tell Annie, maybe partly because she was worried Annie would think it too dangerous to mess with Diego's designs to make something new to use on herself. Use of the wand may have a side effect of speeding the apotheosis event...

Well, how embarrasing and anticlimatic it would be that Kat created a mini Omega Device (a Ether disruptor/manipulator) just as an afterthought... "How did you." "Well I just followed a certain Diego design, marked with an Omega, BTW"

I thought she was just frightened by Kat's etheric form and wanted an explanation even if Kat herself doesn't even know why she's like that
