Meh. Annie always operates with no real plan, no information and with the certainty everything will work out. This time though she has five? six? other people she drew in. She is no longer just herself against sudden oblivion. Within the framework of the story, the universe of the story, with Tom pulling the strings it will probably work out ok in the end. Unless he goes George Martin on us. Sure, this time around Annie has surrounded herself with a capable crew, but in essence this situation isn't much different from that one time she tried to sneak a peek at Jeanne through the blinker stone. I think the claim that Annie has no plan is seriously undermined by some recent facts: (1) She wasn't the one who brought up the subject of Jeanne, leading to the decision that "it's time". This says to me that there has been periodically-ongoing discussion, working out ideas and contingencies. (2) Katrina has a detector and containment device already made. And the detector actually works (no comment, as yet, on the containment device). Meaning they had some means of experimenting, and did so, to make a device that can detect some sort of etheric manifestation. (Of course, they needed an etheric manifestation to test with... Annie stepping out of her body and over to the other side of the room might do, or something from the "_u_sed instruments" room, or they may have other resources.) (The fact that they have a room dedicated to _u_sed musical instruments, as opposed to any other sort of _u_sed objects, kind of says that other resources exist. But it's possible the kids haven't found them yet.) (3) Annie explicitly said there's a plan.

You remind me that I've worried that Annie does not have the containment device with her. But of course, she had to leave it in the boat, because it is attached to the detector with relatively short cables. This means that Annie had to touch the arrow, grasp it, to bring it back to the boat. But now I've remembered that word "synchronized". I'm hoping this means that Kat can contain the arrow without Annie having to retrieve it. I find it hard to remember that Annie's body is in fact still sitting in the boat. All this is happening in the etheric realm. If Kat's device can track Annie in the etheric realm, Kat might be able to deliver the containment device to Annie, or to grab the arrow like a dredger. === I am most intrigued by the shapes surrounding Annie. To me, they look like letterforms. Except for that tall one to the far right, behind the elf--that looks like a badly worn screwdriver tip.
