Timey wimey can't be possible because Tom hates Doctor Who. HE WHAT? Please. Please tell me you are kidding, or that Tom hates Moffat, or he hates Smith, or he hates Tennant, BUT PLEASE DON'T TELL ME HE HATES THE MOST AWESOME AND THE MOST GODDAMN PRECIOUS THING IN MY WHOLE MISERABLE LIFE! I think the actual words were "I detest all forms of Doctor Who", or something along these lines.

I suggest adding preciouser things to your life, otherwise it will not be hard to break it.

If I understand correctly, Doctor Who is viewed rather differently in its home country than elsewhere. Here in the USA, Who is far enough outside the mainstream that you have to be some flavor of nerd just to hear about it in the first place. In the UK, it's broadcast at prime time, and it's considered a show for the whole family. (Which is a step up from the early years, when it was primarily aimed at children.)

Hey, just letting you know Corvo, your last two links gave me a 403 Forbidden error. Thanks, man! Oddly enough, they're working well for me. Works for me too. May be an IP filter. I can propose only one fix for those unfortunate enough to be on the wrong side of it: The Onion Router is your friend. Your devotion is about to become outdated - the ultimate marysue already stomps its hoof on the horizon, for chewing everything into one cud is never out of fashion, so it's going to be a time-traveling space-elf pony sparkling in sunlight. The end is niiiiigh!

Thanks, man! Oddly enough, they're working well for me. The Onion Router is your friend. I can't stand Tor. Go ahead NSA, spy on me. You're not going to find anything illegal, just things that you'll wish you could un-see.

Doctor Who has been going sharply down hill since Mosfett took over Moffat's flying circus with alien clown as a main hero is crap, but Doctor Who is not only seasons 6-7 of newschool. We stil have Classical Doctor Who.

It was pretty good for the seasons with Rose I thought, and Martha was good too but then if went into a sharp decline. I enjoyed the not so cheery 9th Doctor

Ooh ooh, Dr Who + holmes + poirot + gunnerkrigg + girl genius... that only leaves one more... HIS DARK MATERIALS (northern lights (the golden compass)/the subtle knife/the amber spyglass) ZOMG it even has pathologically lying foxes!

And never got a sense that SH was actually sociopathic. Maybe introverted/schizoid or a bit aspergers but mostly just brilliant and focussed

I like House. It's the medical SH, and I wouldn't describe his as sociopathic As a medical person I find it way too ridiculous to be able to watch. But I do understand it is seen as pure entertainment. Interestingly Sherlock Holmes is a lot closer to how a skilled doctor actually does assess things in that after a while you notice lots of little c(l)ues that tell you what is probably going on. Arthur Conan Doyle was a doctor, so it kind of makes sense that he wrote about mysteries in the way that we see them. And why John Watson is a doctor too. EDIT: ah! turns out that holmes was indeed based on a doctor, a medical university lecturer en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Bell

Just a thought but could Hetty be Renard's imaginary friend. I know he's a grown man but he's in a world of grey machines and trapped in a toy which he endures for the (paternal) love of Antimony. It's actually pretty bleak. I could potentially see him creating someone similar to him, for instance a soul trapped in a toy, getting up to hijinks that were perhaps similar to what he and Surma did in the forest. He must get lonely during the days.
Ah, my first wild speculation post. Feels good.

Is that true that lesbian relationshis do not work "boyish partner - girlish partner" way? Based on the several such relationships I've seen, neither "yes, that is true" nor "no, that is not true" is correct. In other words, some are boyish/girlish, while others are girlish/girlish and a few even are boyish/boyish. And in some of the boyish/girlish relationships they trade roles from time to time. Gay male relationships are similarly diverse.
