Coyote does have a lot in common with Loki, from Norse mythology, in attitude, aside from the obvious shared nickname "The Trickster". My interpretation of Loki has always been that whilst he doesnt want everything to *burn*, he takes great delight in pushing the limits, right up until ragnarok. Coyote, whilst appearing to be significantly more powerful than Loki is traditionally shown to be, seems to act in a very similar manner to the Loki I imagine. I'd be unsurprised if they were one and the same. This is wild speculation right?

If Coyote ISN'T Loki, they're probably best buds! I bet Loki was at Coyote and Muut's poker game. Jones was the dealer.

(Might take me a while to get used to posting again, not been forums for a while) Thanks ^^ That would be something to behold! XD All that's missing from that image is everyone who *isnt* a canine in the picture being made so and made to wear houndstooth smoking jackets But talking of wild speculation....who'd win that game? (this sounds far too much like a GC version of Spanish Train)

Oh and wacky old Ysengrin was the fifth but he was the game's biggest loser and he's been grumpy ever since... he's sure Loki and Coyote were cheating the whole night but he couldn't catch them at it and Muut and Jones said nothing.

Coyote be able to resist the chance to be flamboyant about his trickery and Loki just wouldnt have the poker face to compete. Muut woudn't cheat. I love Muut <3 Jones methinks would have to win, she is the wandering eye after all the woman (or whatever she actually is) is an enigma, but I'm sure that wouldn't stop her cheating for a one up on Coyote

Wild mass guessing from a friend: Coyote is Zimmy's dad.

there are three varieties of trickster gods: the teacher, the (purposeless) mischief-maker, and the destroyer.
Coyote is consistently portrayed as either teacher or mischief-maker, and Tom has been true to that in this comic. (Raven, the main other Native American trickster god, is pretty consistently a teacher.)
Loki is consistently portrayed as a destroyer; sometimes he builds, but even then his motive is destruction. His son Fenris Wolf is pure savage destruction.
Loki hasn't appeared in this comic. If he did, Ysengrim might like him at first. But not for long, because Ysengrim sees himself as a protector; Ysengrim would not destroy the Forest in order to destroy the Court, while Loki would prefer such a plan over one that did not destroy the Forest.
I think Coyote would not like Loki at all, even at first.

[825] inspired this one in me: Most of Chapter 31 was not real; it was some sort of illusion Annie suffered after getting zapped by a security system Kat asked her mom to set up in her room. And I really hope that's not true; that would be a cruel thing to do to all us readers.

I doubt Tom would do that; it's pretty much the oldest cliché in the book.

I realized something. We were all so busy with the SURMA TRICKED RENARD OH NOES drama, no one thought to ask why Surma was willing to betray the trust of the forest as she did. She clearly liked it and coyote well enough. Why betray? Her feelings also had to be well known enough for the court to bother asking her to do it too.
I submit that Coyote did something awful. Terrible. Unforgivable! And just downright plain no good!
He peeped up her skirt.
On laundry day

The guides stopped time to teach Annie, right? So her body didn't change during those periods, but her mind did.
All those periods add up... she must be mentally older than twelve/thirteen/fourteen (totally not keeping track of her age *facepalm*).

Most children that are raised surrounded by only adults act like 'little adults' but in Annie's case, she actually has the experience to back it up.

Are u sure? Do a look at his chin and the guy on 282 seems to be younger, then Bob... And why is his head covered... (And wtf... why does he got two panels? Don't seems to be right for me, i mean, for a minor character, two panels?)

It's him, by Word of Tom. The difference in appearance is simply Tom's stylistic changes over 400 pages.

Wild Speculation: *gasp* Coyote is an evil mastermind! He is the villain in this comic! He did not find the Court and the Forest at war, he was the one behind the war! D: ...I still love you Coyote :'D been saying for days now that Coyote is evil yet Tom put him as this semi-neutral chaotic trickster

D: ...I still love you Coyote :'D Well if Coyote is a god of chaos, and the court is man's endeavor to become a god of scientific order, then yeah I can see how Coyote might want to engineer a big fat war to thwart their progress. Maybe he was even sent there by an elder god to nip the whole man/god issue in the bud before it really took off.

Something tells me that Annie would turn to Coyote (or Coyote, Jones and Muut at the same time) to help with Jeanne. If she's sensible, she'll find a way of secretly asking Parley and co before revealing the secret.

Sir Young, Diego, Steadman, and the other Founders led a rebellion to overthrow whoever was ruling Britain at the time and seize power for themselves, and lost; their flight to Gillitie Wood was to escape being arrested and sentenced for high treason rather than simple refugees fleeing a war. The robot horse's recitation of the "War in Heaven" scene from "Paradise Lost" in Chapter Fifteen is a hint of this, with the Founders' flight to Gillitie being an analogue to Satan and his followers' expulsion from Heaven after their rebellion. (If this hint seems perhaps too subtle, note that in Chapter Sixteen, Annie and the Guides are walking past a fire extinguisher when Moddey Dhoo talks about the accident that claimed the lives of Martin and his family - and Tom confirmed that that was deliberate.)
(This raises the question of why the Founders would have the robot horse recite those lines - but many people have misinterpreted Milton's Satan as being the hero of the poem, and perhaps Sir Young and his colleagues made that mistake as well and identified with him thereby.)

OH I GOT ONE!
Ahem.
Coyote will slowly reveal just how much of a madman he is, and Annie will finally understand why the Court takes the position it does against Coyote. At some point she'll finally be able to reach out to Jeanne.. but decides not to set her free because keeping Coyote on the other side of the river is much too important.
It will bring on a sad face once more. The saddest face.

Upon re-reading this page: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=280I am wildly speculating that Mr. Anthony "Science!!!!!" Carver DID make the Tic Tocs. Edit: It would explain why they saved Annie when she fell off the bridge, and how they weren't made by Diego.
