His name hasn't been revealed. it hasn't been confirmed you mean but there's a high chance it's the guy i'm thinking of but still not bother to find If you're thinking of Jolly Elfsberry, it's not.

The arrow was meant for Jeanne but Steadman choose to hit "elf boy" (cause i'm too lazy to find his real name from a past chapter) Actually, that's far too reasonable for this thread! We need something along the lines of "Eglamore was secretly a suicide fairy before coming to the court but her 'new body' turned out to be male due to a mix up in the 'new body department."

I'm pretty sure that this green light is actually the doing of a laser cow... Before Steadman shot Jeanne a laser cow, following Diego's orders, eliminated Elfdude...

New branch of the epileptic tree: Jeanne's elf lover never showed up. She was the one shot by the arrow.
One of Diego's "modifications" made her hallucinate in her dying moments that her lover came down to meet her, but was cut down halfway across the water. Ostensibly it was so her ghost (strengthened by the other effects of the arrow) would have a reason to stick around; Diego also liked the fact that it let him get back at Jeanne for rejecting him, and also let him get imagined vengeance on elfboy.
Cuz really, how was elfman supposed to even know Jeanne was down there? And why didn't she try to go to him? She just sat there on the shore, waiting to die? I dunno about you, but if that was my lover, I'd at least have tried to save him... unless my mind was under an enchantment already while also slowly being starved of oxygen from, yknow, me dying.

Under the catagory "Geez, I'm old"
Eglamore wakes up and hears water running in the bathroom. He walks over to investigate when he's surprised as his beautiful wife Surma step out of the shower and reaches for a towel. "Good morning sleepy'ead"
Eglamore: "Oh man, I just had the weirdest dream...."

Now that we know how things went down, the significance of that odd tip on Diego's pimped-out arrow must be that it's a twin point. Green had Jeanne's heart figuratively. When his heart was pierced by the weapon it simultaneously hit Jeanne's heart also by virtue of Diego's genius with etheric technology. That's why the Court founders could safely write Jeanne off the instant that Green had been shot (along with the fact that she was stranded at the bottom of a deep canyon with no food, shelter, or rescue). That's how the green light ensnared Jeanne and left her an empty shell. ...so in a weird way both of my wildspecs about the arrow were correct. Green was indeed physically struck by the arrow and died in the Annan Waters, and Jeanne was targeted etherically/astrally after all. Me am even smarter than us ever suspected.

So, going off what Tom said in this Formspring answer: Maybe Surma was somehow injured by Jeanne. The damage was progressive, so that she wasn't really forced to remain in bed until after Annie's birth. When the injuries finally killed her, no psychopomps could come and collect her.

Yeah dagnabbit, I had that idea too. Goodbye, idea. ):
WILD SPECULATING:
"The Coward Heart" will be the last chapter in the third book.
Jack will show up again in the next chapter.
Anthony Carver is a robot, since Jones mentions that he is "devoid of emotion", and clearly anyone whose lack of emotion is of note to Jones is a robot.
Antimony Carver is actually Surma's clone/Eglamore's daughter/also a robot/an anmesiac time-travelling Surma (with a hair straightener).
Elfguy used to be the Artilleryman but decided that being a green pointy-eared hippie would be more fun than being a human who shoots things.

Under the heading: "its early and I haven't had coffee yet..."
Surma IS Annie... Surma is actually a decedent of a forest creature who replaces their entire body by growing a new one and gradually transferring their consciousness to the new body. After 13 years, enough of Surma had transferred that her old body was no longer viable, but her new body was not mentally developed enough to comprehend what happened. Normally, others of her people would guide and protect her during this transition but without that, Annie believes she is actually Surma's child.
Anthony had nothing to do with it, since Annie's body was grown asexually by cell division from Surma's body. He agreed it would be logical to take the role of her father while he studied the process. Since Annie's currently where she should be and she will eventually 'remember' the truth, he feels no need to remain in contact.

1. In the next seven chapters we will see a great deal more Jack, another short Zimmy-centric arc, Dr. Disaster will be forming a new simulation that the kids need to help him with, paint mishaps, Robot displays Diego-esque qualities, and Basil will return to visit Annie and Kat.
2. Eventually Parley will 'flatten' Jeanne and will resolve the issue. Smitty will see to it that she doesn't go overboard.
3. Anthony will show up in two years, then barely speak to Annie. Eglamore will lose it and the conflict between them will be resolved by the Donlans and Jones.

No I mean, it would explain why Anthony doesn't seem to care much about Annie.

Given that Anthony was super reserved and withdrawn even around Mr Donlan, who is apparently one of his best friends, and has a habit of going off by himself, I wouldn't say that his disappearing on Antimony is evidence of him not caring much. =/ He may be doing Important Stuff or just need a lot of time alone so that he can deal with losing Surma.
WILD SPECULATION: When Anthony Carver shows up, he and Antimony will exchange polite greetings, Anthony will explain where he has been, Antimony will say "oh okay" and that will be it. Unless Kat is present, in which case bapping may be involved.

Prediction for the next book:
Annie and Kat will form a nakama with Parley and Smitty, and together they will fight crime as the Gunnerkrigg Court Detective Agency, solving mysteries such as the Case of the Missing Bow Tie (it's in the sock drawer). Reynardine will wear a fedora.

SILLY SPECULATION: Parley is going to teleport herself and Smitty down to the base of the cliff, and tell him to pick up Jeanne's bones and throw them. They will spontaneously connect into the form of a giant sword, and fly into Parley's waiting hand while she is busy giving Jeanne yet another BOOT TO THE HAND. (And one for Reynard and the Smit. *oof!* *ouch!*) This will turn out to be the only weapon that can actually damage Jeanne; she will be sent to the Final Death, whereupon a grimly disapproving psychopomp will take her, kicking and biting, to her well-deserved Rest Eternal.

Here's my theory! kat is god. The end. I thought this was canon. Oh, future comic guess. Annie will be depressed and then her mom will visit her as a ghost. And we'll also see an in-depth scene of Annie taking her mother away.

Theory: Surma has similar magics to Anja. Evidence: In www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=544, and the few pages preceding it, when referring to magic users, Its always "Them", or when anja was speaking with surma, "Us". This isn't very surprising, seeing as how she DID end up as the court medium. Maybe, just maybe, that could be the other reason (besides the color of her hair) that she called surma "Fire-hair girl", which was a nickname passed to annie.

A "Not-so-wild" speculation on the role of mediators.
Perhaps there is not just one form of mediation. We all know Annie has the power to mediate between the etherical and the phsical. From the way the story progress it seems that Jones, if she were a mediator herself, performs the duty of mediating between people. i.e. by setting up Smitty and Parley, she manage to set up two people whoes power complements each other and now have a perfect teleporting couple without any possible harm from accidental merging with other physical objects. So Jones is a matchmaker of sorts, perhaps she was the reason why Surma ended up with Anthony instead of Eglamore.
One could go about speculating that all the relationships of GC were somehow, in one way or another, set up by Jones (or her predecessors, if any). And each couple will end up with powers/personality/skills that support each other and make a more perfect utilization.
so... (encroaching on "wild spec" territory) GC is a place of breeding program for the purpose of producing perfect powered beings?

Maybe, just maybe, that could be the other reason (besides the color of her hair) that she called surma "Fire-hair girl", which was a nickname passed to annie. I see them as complementary. Anja's magic, that we have seen, has nearly all occurred in the physical world. Yes, she does etheric stuff, but it has physical effects. She brings the etheric into the physical world. And she apparently at least used to be a gadgeteer (consider the fact that she had the workshop). Kat is very much in the same pattern, except she doesn't even yet realize she uses etheric magic in her gadgets (specific evidence: the antigravity device made out of a thermos and coat-hangers). Surma and Annie seem to primarily do the opposite: they step into the etheric (and sometimes take the physical with them).
