it would be sorta creepy if mort wasn't a boy, given his crush on Annie and all

Same here! I keep laughing every time I look at the last panel. I never knew Mort had such an awesome sense of humor. Look at his face in the 4th panel, though--I wonder if he's afraid that Andrew Smith could be a romantic rival? (he'll be relieved when he learns that Smitty's heart belongs to George. )

Mort has always had a good sense of humor. I liked his comic the best.

(he'll be relieved when he learns that Smitty's heart belongs to George. ) I don't think he thought of him as a romantic rival... I think he was just mimicing their personalities... especially parley who was all trying to communicate with him via bad fortune teller

Oh man.
I like the contrast between Parley and Jones in panel 1. And how happy Mort is to hear Annie call him a friend. And the fact that Annie decided not to share Parley's first name. And that last panel is hilarious.

Did Jones just say "Boy" in referring to Mort? That got me wondering, too. It doesn't seem to be her style. Other than that: Ahahahaha! Mort, you're killing me!

My goodness, the chapter is currently 29 pages long. I wonder how close we are to the end.

It's a small matter, but I wish that Mort and Smith had said "All right" rather than "Alright". I'm not fond of that "Alright" variant; it seems sloppy and lazy to me.
I don't know if Jones is really surprised about Annie and Mort being friends or is just feigning it (though how would she know about it, unless she's been spying on Annie in Chapters Four and Nine?), but I'm also interested in her calling Mort a boy - as if she knows something about his past.
And good for him, to give Parley a taste of her own medicine.

It just seemed like Jones might have known him in his previous life is all. I'm curious what other 'ethereal beings' Jones knows. The white lady with the sword would be of special interest.

I think jones doesnt identify ghost as foriegn entities. She's a medium after all and deals with them daily. But unlike annie, she doesnt identify them as friends and such either. So she goes with "boy"
I assume Mort is doing his best stereotypical ghost voice.

I totally predicted the middle panel. So much manlyness. Also, no one can make an expressionless face like Mort.
And please let Jones keep calling him "boy". And have Mort correcting her.
Jones: "Anyway, boy-" Mort: "Mort."

Today's comic is an instant classic, it seems. I think jones doesnt identify ghost as foriegn entities. She's a medium after all Do we know this? I had sort of taken the "Gunnerkrigg must construct additional mediums" thing to mean she wasn't one, even if the distinction involved could be a very fine one. Maybe she's filling in for old times' sake and she looks bored because her time could be spent more productively researching the library science of 12th-century Constantinople.

It's a small matter, but I wish that Mort and Smith had said "All right" rather than "Alright". I'm not fond of that "Alright" variant; it seems sloppy and lazy to me. I'd assumed that "alright" is pronounced differently from "all right". Mort could have told her at some point. But my completely unsupported opinion is that Jo isn't the type to be intentionally deceptive. Muut did say that Mort was a young spirit, back in ch 8.

Just to annoy Parley, I see Mort following her around all day with that face locked on, randomly shouting "GREETINGS!!!" and "I WISH TO COMMUNICATE TOO!!"
