In short: Antimony overreacted and now just wants people to tell her she's right rather than confront the possibility that she made a mistake.
But Ysengrin ain't pickin' up what she's puttin' down, so she's writing off his opinions by claiming he just doesn't "get it".
Confirmation bias a-go-go.
P.S. How's that for a page topper? ;P

Tony would rather wallow in guilt than admit helplessness. Ysengrin would also do too much to avoid helplessness but not the same things, most likely explode in anger. In that they are alike but Ysengrin understands himself better. Given these similarities I'm wondering how this will play out. It looks like Ysengrin is trying to make Antimony angry and hence to reconnect with the isolated part of herself. He is quite definitely disrupting her evasions nicely. Antimony is giving answers that she thinks are the ends of any argument and Ysengrin is demonstrating that they are not.

"You just don't get it!" "Then explain it to me, I am all... ear."
Sorry.
Also, what a wide variety of seemingly sincere facial expressions Annie is showing in this page. We hadn't seen that for a while, at least that I remember, and it sounds like good news for me.

Ah, the trials and tribulations of... teen drama. Despite the adorable awkwardness from the both of you, I do hope you'll get over the teen emotions super-quick.
I mean, you definitely have some serious gripes with Tony, but this... this could've been done better.

The last several months of forum arguments, condensed into a comic page. Not so much. Most forum conversations have been more nuanced and articulate. But it is a pretty good sumstion of how the less mature members of each side might reduce and over simplify the arguments made by the other.

Well dang, Ys, when you put it like that...
I'm feeling a little of Annie's awkwardness here.

I wonder if Ysengrin is doing this on purpose, or he's just being his regular wolfy self.

Ysengrin and Anthony Carver: Dad-Bros 4EVA! The terrible Dad-Bros. We need awesome Dad-Bro Rey back in Annie's life. (I'll give Ys credit, though, he's doing alright here.)

The last two panels show Ysengrin with a new expression. He looks crestfallen, to me. I think he's about to make some things very clear to Antimony, and he's not the type to pull his punches.

While I do think Anthony is wrong and is being pretty crap towards Annie, I think both Antimony and certain parts of the fandom areoverreacting, and I think Ysengrims reaction exposes part of that. Uh, not to say Anthony hasn't acted in way that makes things worse but yeah. All-around people could have handled this better.

If this is what she thinks she's upset about then she hasn't actually examined any of her pain at all.
Which is not surprising, she's what, 16 now?
I think the fire is about to be hauled back in. And Annie is going to surprise herself by saying out loud what she actually thinks of her father and the way he has treated her.

I am starting to become worried that Ysegrin by not getting the full picture will convince Antimony that her father is completely in the right. Yes Antimony was in the wrong, but the manner that Anthony did so with, was sketchy.

Yes Antimony was in the wrong, but the manner that Anthony did so with, was sketchy. Ysengrin can see what Annie has done but doesn't know why she did it. Because she cut off her anger Annie is stuck in denial and isolation, the first stage of grief. It is possible with the help of Ysengrin's confronting her and friends she can move forward. I'm actually quite proud of Ysengrin.

Would he be disappointed that she cheated, or that she got caught?
Let's hope he puts things in a more neutral grey, rather than the stark black and white, she's made of her situation (and herself). False dichotomies are false, after all.

But everyone else has been validating my anger! haha - exactly! All of a sudden, Ysengrin shows Annie that it's not all irrational.

And in panel eight the mask pops right back off. Not the reaction she was expecting. Now she doesn't know what role to play! Yes! Exactly that! My opinion is that this is really the only way for her to get out of this. She has to stop pretending, face the good and the bad, be honest with herself, and be honest about why she feels the way she does about Tony. And then, she needs to decide what she wants, and go get that. She can never choose what someone else does, and at this point in her life, some choices are taken away from her because of those in authority over her. She can either continue allowing their authority to matter if she wants to finish school, or she would have to abandon the school altogether. I hope she will take the wiser route, fix a couple of things (like the cheating) and get back to being herself, finish school, and then go on.

And Annie is going to surprise herself by saying out loud what she actually thinks of her father and the way he has treated her. Yep, yep, that's what I'm hoping for. My worried thought is that if she doesn't voice what her real issues are, she'll either dismiss anything Ysengrin says as 'not getting it', or she'll take his current "but that doesn't seem unreasonable" to heart and really double down on herself and the 'everything is fine, he had his reasons' mantra. (Or the story will go the direction of confirming, through Ysengrin, that Annie was totally just overreacting like a teenager, and if she got over herself, things really will be just fine. But I don't foresee this.) I wonder if Ysengrin is doing this on purpose, or he's just being his regular wolfy self. Personally, I think he's more confused than anything. Remember that he was convinced that the Court was holding her hostage earlier and on the previous page, his eyes widen when Annie talks about needing to cut off her anger to manage. He was all prepared to hear about the terrible experiences and torture she's suffered through, only to get "my dad's back and he made me take off my makeup and was disappointed by my cheating". Very baffling for an old wolf.

Sigh. How inarticulate from a wolf's perspective. Instead of, "He made me take off my (smelly) makeup," try, "He made me remove my mother's face markings." And use "He tossed me down among the pups to humiliate me" instead of "he found out I was cheating and made me repeat a year." You just made me realize that this makes Annie quite unfit to be a medium. I mean, isn't that just what being a medium is ALL ABOUT? Be fair, the part of her that's good at communicating with the denizens of the forest probably isn't the part that's currently in the forest.
