I would have liked this page more if she morphed while Anthony was sloppily slipping her the tongue. [edit]And copping a handful.[/edit] Like, ew.

Hmm. I wonder if Tony's coldness could be down to realising how much he'd hurt Annie by getting so obsessed and attached to Surma that he almost killed Annie in the process. Now he has realised that he is trying to be as distant and unemotional towards her as possible, in the hope he doesn't cause her life to be threatened again by meddling in etheric things.

Well, so now we know he doesn't mistakenly believe Annie cleaned his clock or otherwise caused any of his woes on this misadventure. SO WHY IS HE STILL BEING SUCH A BAG OF SUCK TO ANNIE LIKE THIS? Still not getting why That's not the only open question. Why did he come back? He didn't head back to the Court straight after Divine, we know that. He also hinted that the Court had its eye on him. The story still has a long way to go.

It's not lost on me that he talks about Zimmy with more horror and disgust than he talks about the malevolent forces that tricked him into chopping off his goddamned working arm. Zimmy is scary, yo. But in this context, she's a goddamn hero. Big damn hero! youtu.be/VYeqDD96gLg

Yeah, we've had everything else satisfactorily explained, and nothing has really explained the odd coldness. He has acted in ways that if things were as they seemed could only be justified as a means of preventing something worse. His behaviour since he returned is looking like he could be trying to protect her from the Court and could be partially an act. We do not yet have the information that will put everything into context. We will know soon. We now understand his absence. The reason was not as bad as it appeared but was still bad. He does not get off on this one. We now know what he was doing when he put Annie into a coma. It was very definitely not what it appeared to be. What he did was foolish, reckless and creepy but he could not have reasonably anticipated what it would do to Annie. He does get off on this one, at least as far as the harm to Annie goes.

To be fair, I'm not terrible sure Tony knows that Zimmy is, well, Zimmy. She must have arrived during his time away, and whether or not he was made aware of her since his return is honestly up in the air. So for all intents and purposes, I'm going to assume that he literally does not know what Zimmy is. Could have just been another spirit in this crazy world he was experiencing. Bonus page Anthony encountering Zimmy, singing her praises only to be told to bugger off? Add her to the list of characters I sorely wish to see Anthony interact with. It's not lost on me that he talks about Zimmy with more horror and disgust than he talks about the malevolent forces that tricked him into chopping off his goddamned working arm. ...You must be joking. Disgust is far from what he seems to be expressing on this page.

I suppose in the wake of "I mutilated myself and can never be a surgeon again, isn't that just hilarious?", "I discovered I was killing my daughter and then this thing appeared and smashed me in the face, scarring me for life, isn't that hilarious too?"loses some impact.
Your recent activities are a laugh riot Tony, now get in the van, we have the rubber room on standby.

"That thing" isn't a very nice thing to call Zimy I don't know, Zimmy is probably the scariest entity in the Court. [edit]And copping a handful.[/edit] (I had to google that, sometimes I feel so innocent ) Don't think Zimbo even has a handful..

Well, so now we know he doesn't mistakenly believe Annie cleaned his clock or otherwise caused any of his woes on this misadventure. SO WHY IS HE STILL BEING SUCH A BAG OF SUCK TO ANNIE LIKE THIS? Because he's Tony (sucks at humans, guilt trips over all he's done, given all that still had to somehow deal with Annie's cheating). Not excusing him, but it's all understandable, to me at least. This chapter gives me hope, though, that given time (lots of it - I'm hoping it drags on quite a bit still ), he might still have a good relationship with his daughter. That wasn't so obvious when he came in last chapter and started acting like control freak daddy from hell. Although, there is still potential for everything to blow up horribly. Now I'm mostly interested in how Annie takes those revelations. (Does she even know what happened when she was ill? I'm guessing not.)

Zimmy is not a thing. People should not be refered to as things. You might not like her, or find her creepy. That doesn't make her a thing.
Just saying.

SO WHY IS HE STILL BEING SUCH A BAG OF SUCK TO ANNIE LIKE THIS? Knowing Tom's way of storytelling, we will discover the reason behind this somewhere near Chapter 80. Or 70, if we're lucky.

I'm going to go with that one for the time being. Massive regret, and now he's trying to do what he thinks is best for Annie including being distant, because "how could she live with the man who killed her mother"? He's trying to be the father he hasn't been for a long time while keeping his distance emotionally and physically. But as with most of the things he's done, it's misguided and overzealous. Oh, Tony, you poor fool. You're more human than what you seemed to be at first.

While fumbling around some strange space inhabited solely by creatures that dance on the edge of humanities comprehension, would you be quick to assume that some "thing" thats capable of popping up in the middle of some magical vision, that manifests through the image of your dead wife, with its immediate definable features being the shark-like teeth and perpetual eldritch gunk covering their eyes, is, in fact, actually just a person? Its also already well established at this point that Anthony is a complete moron when it comes towards etheric matters. His usage of "thing" isn't out of a heightened sense of disgust for "this being in particular above the others", its out of sheer confusion, ignorance and incompetence.

Can we talk about how Zimmy's the best thing instead? Even Tony agrees with that! Looks like Zimmy for all her defensiveness and fears of "weird crap" (probably justified) actually likes some first-hand action. She almost grins while punching Tony, and then there's that battle cry... It looked like this the first time, but now it's visible better. "Thank God I hadn't gone for the kiss yet." And another good point. She must have arrived during his time away, and whether or not he was made aware of her since his return is honestly up in the air. So for all intents and purposes, I'm going to assume that he literally does not know what Zimmy is. Could have just been another spirit in this crazy world he was experiencing. Most likely. All the better. He's in for a little surprise in some quiet Court corridor. It's now possible that the only teacher who genuinely likes Zimmy is Mr. Carver. That's a tough endorsement to end up with. Well, yes, the problem may be in how he treats people whom he genuinely likes... but then again, that's Zimmy. She's unlikely to end up feeling more uncomfortable than everyone else in pretty much any situation.
