Agreed on the animation over live action (although I think live action could be pretty cool as a movie for older audiences, it would just be practically impossible to pull it off right). I disagree with Christian Bale as any character really. After seeing him in American Psycho he always looks a bit insane in every movie I see him in, but that's probably just me.
As for an animated movie though, I agree that animation by hand would look absolutely wonderful, but that too is pretty much impossible, especially for a newcomer to movies. I think style would be extremely important in a movie - hopefully of course the animators would stick with Toms style of drawing. I wouldn't like to see it get too cartoony, either, like a lot of animated movies are these days. I think voice actors would be a good choice instead of popular actors from films. I don't really like the trend of cramming a whole lot of film actors into an animated movie, such as in Robots.

Yeah, when I se that picture, I immediately go "Batman". Eglamore is even drawn sort of similar to batman, at least the comic book version. My vote rests with Christian Bale.

I agree that Eglamore is similar to Batman, but he's not insane.

Batman's not insane! He's just a bit out of touch with reality.

You're a pathetic pun. Anyway, yeah, Christian Bale could totally be Eglamore. (Though even after seeing that movie he doesn't look like Batman to me.)

We all seem to be thinking live-action when we should be thinking animation. The only connection we would have with the actors is there voices, so looks don't matter.

Yeah, but see, it's so much easier to think of faces then it is of voices. I can think "Christian Bale" and come up with a face almost immediately, but with the voice I have to search a little more. But only a little, cosidering how many times I've seen the prestige.
The other problem with voices is accents. In a lot of movies actors will have accents and that skews our perception of their voice.

Yeah, and some actors can create accents that might really fit a character but we have never heard them so we willl never be able to cast them.

He's just excellent. I don't think he has the voice though, Dr. Disaster has a very specific voice in my head, stereotypical mad scientist but it works!

Actually, I can almost see – or hear, that is – Doc Disaster played by Sean Connery. Can't you just imagine him shouting "Spacemonauts! The Earth is in peril!"

Kate Rusby would play Antimony in the animated movie. Duh. Wrong. The animated movie clearly needs animated actors! Let's see who we have here ... ah, yes! Gordon Freeman as Antimony Carver! Alyx Vance as Kat! The G-Man as Headmaster! Barney as Mr. Eglamore! Dog as Robot! OK, I'm not being productive, I know. Just ignore this post. etc.

Uwe Boll's Gunnerkrigg Court:Gunnerkrigg Court is the party house in town, where all the hottest teens get together for drinking, sexing, and partying. Annie comes for her first time with a close friend, Kat, at the height of the biggest party of the year. Just having Annie at a place like that (unless she was dragged there by Kat despite her protests that she'd rather stay home and read about erosion) would be enough to make it a horrendous adaptation. Having Uwe Boll direct it is enough to make it a horrendous adaptation.

I just hope the Headmaster doesn't abduct Annie and use her to fight an evil interdimensional empire.
