If it was live action, hell yeah! That guy is really buff too, he'd make a great Eglamore. Why can't I remember his name...?

Christan Bale as Mr Eglamore.
Equlibrim, Batman.

HELL. YEAH.
Christian Bale for Eglamore! And whoever played the Scarecrow to voice Reynardine.
Or alternatively, Brandon Routh for Eglamore and Kevin Spacey for Reynardine.

Billy christal as mort. Watch Howl's moving castle and you will know what I mean. Agreement. His voice as Calcifer carried off really well there. I'm momentarily imagining some Johnny Depp falsetto for Antimony... hmm. Just... hmm.

Well In the Gunnerkeigg court Demo there was a sound file of the first 2 pages of the comic. I liked the voice in that one and it was pretty much what I imagined for Antimony,

Any way we can here the voice without downloading the demo?

I would insist on English voices for an animated series. Jeremy Irons would make a brilliant Reynardine indeed! Annie would have to have a voice that sounds slightly too old for her, but also very kind.
And Janet should have Maggie Thatcher's voice. Just right.

Meh, not a castle, sound-stage. The problem with filming 'on location' is the GK has so MANY locations, and they are so different from each other. So, sound stage and CG, TYVM.

I'd vomit if I had to see a live action GKC movie (I'd see it anyway... but I wouldn't like it). Especially if the more difficult characters were done in CGI. It's just that so much of what makes Tom's characters look interesting and unique would be lost in the transition to live action... either that or would look absolutely terrible on real people.
Animated all the way.

Its definitely not a castle. Any factory would be a good choice.

I get the feeling that most people here have never been inside a castle or factory.
OR
That they didn't exactly get a good look at GunnerKrigg Court.

Factories make really crappy places to shoot, having tried to film in one before. The acoustics make it v. echoey and piss off your sound guy.
And yeah, animation so owns live action.

Christian Bale for Eglamore! And whoever played the Scarecrow to voice Reynardine. That would be Cillian Murphy. My friends are obsessed with him. I must admit I think he's a good actor. (and he's Irish so it wouldn't screw up the British thing too much. I agree with this, btw.) Christian Bale would be a good Eglamore.

Oh, that's his name. I knew it ended in -lian. He's a babe. Plus he has an awesome voice. Just perfect for Reynardine.

I could sorta see him as Reynardine. I didn't think he was a good choice for Scarecrow at all though. He pulled it off in the context of the movie, but the way the character is portrayed in (some of) the comics (see Scarecrow: Year One) is much more interesting. But back to the actual topic, I could only really accept it as an animated series done in Tom's own style. I think Tom's style would work perfectly animated.

As long as sufficient effort and care would be taken to preserve Tom's style (he can't do it alone, you know) I think it would work great. His art style is both simple and very expressive, but if it was done in low quality, i.e. on a low budget, then the art would probably suffer more than a 'realistic' style would. Also, I'd be all for having it 100% hand drawn, even the backgrounds, but again, a lot of care would have to be taken in order for it not do look cheap. I think.

I like the style of CGI backgrounds that Disney did on Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

I think that you could do the animation by hand, seriously that is how Disney began and some of their greatest films were hand done.

Just a note, I was fooling around on the cast page and I saw that Kat has a scottish accent apperantly. This throws a new light on her voice...

Whoa! I never noticed that! Good catch, julieth. That is really odd. Especially since her mother is Romanian, and apparantly dosen't have an accent? So... they grew up in Scotland, or what?

How do we know the Court itself isn't in Scotland? All we know is it's somewhere in the UK.

I think that you could do the animation by hand, seriously that is how Disney began and some of their greatest films were hand done. With the help of sweatshop labor. CG is better because it is cheaper and easer.

One other danger of a poorly-done animated adaptation: the producers (over Tom's protests) decide to Americanize the story.
The horror, the horror!

I get the feeling that most people here have never been inside a castle or factory. OR That they didn't exactly get a good look at GunnerKrigg Court. Sort of a combination of both... It doesn't fit any 'style' of castle that I could pin down, but my argument against filming on location (I'd deplore live-action in the first place, but, IF) is that GC simply has too many differences... You'd have to do a lot to a real castle to make it look like some of our locations, and filmin on-location is a pain in the first place, so... Sculpting foam and chainsaws, friends! Most modern 'animated' films, such as animes, are done almost entirely on computer today. That's why it's so hard to find cels of say, Angelic Layer (CLAMPs first CG anime), because there aren't any. This is how I can see GC - The Animated Series being done.

I was reading the interview with Tom, and he thinks it would best be done as an animated movie series.
