Nothing done is an appropriate response to her cheating, and any group as dedicated to science as the court claims to be has no excuse to not have enough understanding oh Psychology and Childhood development to understand that htis is doing much more damage then good. I have the suspicion that the Court focuses on the physical sciences, engineering, etc. rather than on the "human behavior" area of science. Considering that Chaos Theory provides a decent basis to explain etherics, putting them from "impossible to understand" to "beyond out current limits to explain" I would not be surprised if the court has little grounding/understanding of abstract theory...However if they are claiming to be a scientific focus and acting as both a school and research institute, then realizing that they need to study other fields they are weaker in is basic, and acting as a school means that they should definitely study current education practices and theory.

If they know she is working to uncover Jeanne's secrets and how to release her they might be willing to take decisive action to block Annies efforts. Which is a big "if". The Court doesn't even know about Jeanne (thanks to the Founders excising her from the archives), so it could hardly be aware of Annie's investigating her. You're assuming they didn't leave any guidance for the future governing Court. They might not know about Jeanne but they may have a list of instructions to deal with unusual events. There also might be a secret text that only the head of the Court is privy to then he takes the office.

I think they just want her under their control. Certainly Anthony's return would have fulfilled the Court leaders' desires, then; not only is Annie placed under the kind of supervision that would make it difficult for her to do any more prying and meddling, but she's voluntarily sealed away the fire elemental side of herself - and presumably, thereby banished the part of herself that drives her to do all that prying and meddling. They now have an Annie who'll meekly go about her studies and leave the Court's secrets alone. (The only drawback is - a fire elemental separate from Annie, filled with anger; for now, it's safely contained, but if it gets out of that room, the Court could be facing a conflagration on the level of the Great Fires of Rome (deja vu for Jones), London, and Chicago.)

a lead lined bunker under water actually would probably save you from a nuke. the important thing is distance to ground zero and what barriers interrupt line of sight. I love reading your posts; they always remind me of a haiku. I don't even really know why I do it, It's just been the way I always type online. the closest format is the width of a newspaper column.
