We've had a few theories flying around about the consequences of Annie's separation from her elemental side, here's a little poll to see where people think this is going!

If only one could select multiples...

I seriously thought about allowing multiple selections, then decided against it for, reasons.

At this point (i.e. no information except for one page and a few implications) I'm just here for the popcorn!

There's no way this is a good thing, but I'm prepared to eat my words if need be.

I am going with both. I expect there to be short term benefits, but major long term problems.

Apparently I'm the only one so far who thinks this might threaten her life. I doubt it will actually kill her, but I feel it's a danger to her life.

There might have been more if I'd made multiple options a thing in the poll. (Also, I should have probably inccluded "it's all coyote's fault." Maybe "I'm just here for the popcorn" can be a stand in for that. )

There is just so much we don't know.
Is the Fire Element a separate being with a memory? Does it remember when it was with Annie's mom?
Can it speak on its own?
Is there still a bit of the FE still inside Annie?
So many questions.

Is there still a bit of the FE still inside Annie? So many questions. Does she remember all the people of which she once was a part? Or is she like a soul, as old as Annie is. If she remembered all of her earlier lives, you'd expect her to be smart and patient. Although maybe the fiery past needs Carver genes to cool down. I hope and expect some kind of internal dialogue.

Alternatively, Surma's memories were what Annie took into the Ether when she died... something was left after her fire/soul moved on to Annie. If the elemental part of them did carry memories with it from each generation, it would be thematically fitting (to me at least) for Surma to have experienced memory loss in conjunction with loss of health and spirit. Of course, it could be that the elemental keeps a copy of the memories to take during transfer, rather than draining out the originals, but I think it just becomes a new soul with each rebirth. (Has anyone noted yet that Antimony is a Phoenix?)

(Has anyone noted yet that Antimony is a Phoenix?) That, my friends, is the right question.

(Has anyone noted yet that Antimony is a Phoenix?) If you do a search on this forum, you'll see it's discussed before. And it is a good analogy. First time it is mentioned seriously (connected to rebirth) is here.
