Um.
I'm sorry, I just don't know how to interpret this one. Annie's happier, but...who/what is she talking to? Something etheric probably, or just a hallucination?

Soooooo....any theories on who or what she's talking to? Faeries? Robots? Lindsey? Probably someone's etheric projection, since the last picture we got of the ceiling of this room was a blank white expanse with nowhere for someone to hide. Happiest solution, she and Kat worked out everything ahead and will now have a touching emotional moment together. Unlikely, but one can dream.

This is beyond my wildest dreams. Not only was one of the greatest questions in the Gunnerkrigg universe asked, but it's also answered within the very same chapter. Ladies and gentlemen, THIS is why this stupid room is so big.

The real Annie descends from the rafters to congratulate her doppelganger on a job well done!

Ladies and gentlemen, THIS is why this stupid room is so big. What's more? Hope! Renewed hope that Annie is not in fact completely broken down and is actively subverting her father's plans for whatever. She may still love him and may continue to make excuses for him, but at least this page isn't showing her closing the door and just standing empty eyed like a zombie. ...Unless she's gone completely zarkin mad and is merely hallucinating that she's not utterly alone.

The return of Jack in this manner would make a nice twist ending for a chapter titled "Sneak."

Looking through the earlier pages, I couldn't find anything hiding in the ceiling of Annie's new place.
I have no idea what it could be.

Spider Jones, Spider Jones... It does seem like a spider going down its thread, doesn't it? My first thought was Anansi, for some reason. Maybe, Tony has been interacting with another trickster god for the Court. I doubt it's Anansi, but if it is, I will be ecstatic. Would Shadow be able to go in that room? Bright light from all directions, and all?

...Oh man, if it's one (or a few) of those Whitelegs, that would make for an interesting twist.

Soooooo....any theories on who or what she's talking to? Faeries? Robots? Lindsey? Lindsey. Please say the next panel is Lindsay slowly unfurling herself... But my first thought was shadow, although why would shadow hide from Kat as well? Or it could just be Chandler-Bot refusing to accept Annie isn't in his year anymore. "Could your dad BE any more of an ass?"

Annie has developed her dissociation into depersonalization; she has split her consciousness into two parts and is now merging them again... *cough*cough*

Annie has developed her dissociation into depersonalization; she has split her consciousness into two parts and is now merging them again... *cough*cough* I suppose she might have left her etheric self here to kick back and avoid the drama like the kids leave their bodies in fairy math class but I'm still hoping it's Jack sidling down to hold her and give her a big ol' smoocheroo. Because I want to find out what happens in the Gunnerverse when you really piss off a witch.

The real Annie descends from the rafters to congratulate her doppelganger on a job well done! My first thought was etheric-Annie coming back to her soulless body. I don't really think that's likely. She wouldn't need to tell herself to come down, would she? However it's a bit strange in the last few panels, how she's standing there with eyes semi-closed, and the descending perspective. Almost as if waiting for something to come back inside her. Ah well, if that's an etheric projection up there, she might be projecting herself as well.
In any case, I'm ver glad to see this unexpected development.

I don't know why, or if there is any basis at all for it...but for some dumb reason I just think 'Spider' from the angle on the last few panels.

My thought as of right now is that Annie actually let something else into her body, some etheric being perhaps, to let it take care of her shit for her while she left to do other things or to escape Anthony.
One thing is for sure with this page: Tom is a lovable jackass.

There's no possibility it could be Coyote, could it? Naw, it's probably not. ...Maybe it is Coyote, however. Do you think? Yes? No? Entirely impossible? No, it's not Coyote. (Heh.)

I just recalled this chapter: www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=981 The Faeries were perfectly able to let their etheric projections party the entire time while the rest of them was being a good girl on the school bench. No reason why Annie couldn't master that as a coping mechanism.
EDIT: might that be the reason why she cut her hair? to help cut herself off herself?

I am so glad this is not Friday.
My first thought was, "Who is that in the Renard plushie, then?" but that doesn't seem right.
The curvature of the floor line in frame 5 makes me think of the little sky-watcher bot, bit I don't know what he'd be doing here.
"Waiting is," I guess.

I don't see what it would accomplish for the Annie we see to have not been the Real Annie. Can't really believe she'd trust anyone, or anything, else with her Father or Kat. And for what?

Is it just me or she is not hunched anymore? I hope I'm not seeing things but the new short-haired Antimony has always seemed a bit hunched forward however in the last few panels of this strip she seems straighter?

I don't see what it would accomplish for the Annie we see to have not been the Real Annie. Can't really believe she'd trust anyone, or anything, else with her Father or Kat. And for what? Not someone else. Just herself, minus her mind, like here: www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=983 Red and the rest of her class were perfectly able to take notes, react to their environment, while their etheric self was jumping around somewhere else. Red's "real" self raised her hands with a surpised look when Annie closed her notebook, and the teacher was even teaching while her etheric self was sleeping under the desk. Clearly it's possible to function, talk, walk, interract... while your mind is litteraly elsewhere.
Frankly if I had this kind of ability and was in Annie's position, I'd definitely use it. Seems to me it's a bit like thinking of pretty landscapes to ignore pain in your leg. Although I'm not sure I'd stay in that white room if I were her.
Only thing is, if it's a part of her up there, I don't see why the need to talk to interract.
