Well, I might have to reconsider how much Tony expects from Annie after reflecting on this page. I thought he might expect perfect marks as opposed to merely doing well on assignments and the like, but I'll admit to possibly being wrong as he did praise Kat's work efforts despite acknowledging in the previous chapter that she had some of her own mistakes.
But at the same time, even if Annie's cheating was too much to allow her to continue on without being held back, I'd think he should take some consolation in her doing well with history and biology. Especially if she did well enough to not have to do either subject again.

Especially if she did well enough to not have to do either subject again. Well, Kat's work is exceptional. As in, genius. Remember how she built that anti-grav-device just so she could do a science project, not even as science project? When everybody else did potato batteries and baking powder volcanoes, she invented something experts in the field couldn't. Kat isn't just a normal pupil, she's not even a good one. She's surpassing everybody around her - we never saw her bring home any mark less than A with a little star, even with all the extracurricular activities she's doing. She's no 'exemplary student' - most of the others can never hope to archive her level. Calling her exemplary severely undersells her talent. I think Tony expects perfect marks and complete dedication to school work, even though I don't think he really helped her, even when he has been around.

Bit of a tangent, but I sometimes wonder if what Kat is doing is really that exceptional from the Court's perspective... Kat is trying to grow a body for Robot, but we've recently learned that the Court has a factory that sucessfully grows at least 30 functional bodies a year. It could be that the things Kat creates aren't new to the Court. What makes Kat exceptional may just be the fact that she is creating these things on her own even though she is just a 15-year old student. I do think Kat's abilities and relationship with the Bots are new, but we don't know how much the Court knows about that. Kat: "Dad! I have this really interesting idea. What if particles behave like strings?" Donald: "That does sound interesting. Let's stay home tonight and you can tell me all about it."
