Oh my gosh. Wow. That's...smart. Good going, Annie. Also, wow, I actually expected Renard to be all grumpy and stuff. First thing he asks about is Annie. That sure says something.

Hm, I wonder how the logistics of this worked out.
I guess Kat is kind of taking command of the situation? but it probably can't be as simple as that.
Also maybe it's just a half-morph or something, but he looks pretty dog-like here.

That does not look like Reynard in any form we have seen up till now.
I am wondering if this is Rey, a robot Kat built for this purpose, and not Reynard, who is still in Annie's possession, or Kat's.
I am very glad indeed to see that one way or another, Annie has not yielded full control of Reynard to Anthony.

I have a feeling Annie doesn't know this happened. And I don't know whether to be relieved or horrified about it.

... and straight to the feels! He is Kat's?! phew! Though the second panel showing the chair again is making me worried. Surely if someone *was* sitting there they would have seen them, yes? Also adorable Rey is adorable. Also save Rey! Save Annie! Stand up to the bully!

Now there is the question of how that particular symbol arrived on Reynardine's forehead.
The good news out of all of this is that Kat will NEVER relinquish control of Rey to Dr Carver knowingly... unless he acts like a complete bastard by restricting access to Annie if he doesn't gain control.

Dear, god! Panel 7!
...He's adorable! (And he's got Kat's symbol)
Edit: Damn it phone, I meant "Kat's" not "Lots"

tee hee, Rey looks so cute in that form <3
I wonder if the owner has an influence on what form a bound soul can take.

I was almost hoping to see this symbol: It's the symbol for Arsenic, which would fit perfectly for Anthony's personality. But at the same time... Kat owns Rey. Yesssssss.

I WASN'T SURE WHAT I WAS EXPECTING BUT IT WASN'T THE MARK OF THE CREATOR!
So I'm just throwing out guesses, but perhaps the mindset of the owner has some influence on the forms Rey assumes, and that's why he's more doglike now?

Just to clarify, is there anyone besides Kat who has been granted the Mark of the Creator?

I am cautious of using the word "owns" in this context. And I am also cautious about identifying "Rey" as Renard, although I suspect that is likely correct. And yes, this plushie looks like a corgi.

Just to clarify, is there anyone besides Kat who has been granted the Mark of the Creator? I'm not aware of it. I am struck by how this mark, which I've always seen as an electronic schematic symbol, looks like a laughing mouth. Do we know anyone with this profile?

Just to clarify, is there anyone besides Kat who has been granted the Mark of the Creator? As far as I've interpreted, it's something that denotes the holder as being on the level of Diego himself, which considering the way the Robots have reacted to Kat's experiments, leads me to believe hasn't happened very often. I place my bet on Kat being the only one.

Gotta point out that Kat has referred to the indisputably actual him as "Rey" before, such as when Kat met him and Annie after summer in From the Forest She came.

Just to clarify, is there anyone besides Kat who has been granted the Mark of the Creator? No, apart from the theory that it was also Diego's (him being the 'original' creator, but there is no actual evidence) Kat is the only one to had have association with it in the treatises, the inspiration, the Rotd, and the Seraph's giving the mark to her.

Just to clarify, is there anyone besides Kat who has been granted the Mark of the Creator? My immediate thought was that it was a mark of the court that was bestowed on Kat, not her personal mark, so that Anthony's owning Rey would give it to him too. I like the interpretation that Annie gave Rey to Kat in secret a lot better though. For multiple reasons. Hm..and Renard's form reminds me of what Hetty said, about being sure he could cut a handsome figure if he'd just try. It's an interesting balance between the doll and the wolf. I'm also weirdly relieved the man appears to own more furniture, for some reason.

Guess this confirms the Symbol is kat's? Well, more likely than Anthony's www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1305*tinfoil* This means that Kat is Annie's dad!

Now there is the question of how that particular symbol arrived on Reynardine's forehead. That is a good question, indeed. I don't see Annie openly defying her father (yet). He seems to have her completely under his thumb. So when he asked her to give Rey to him, I would expect she did just that, only it didn't work for some reason. Like a gift given under duress isn't really a gift and therefore no transfer of ownership happens. Something like that would explain why Anthony has no power over Rey, but not why Kat does, though.

Kudos to those who predicted this. It's a relief Renard was never in Tony's possession, so Annie never betrayed him. There is nothing ominous about that chair.

The only reason i easy can think of for this is that Annie think before this and command hem that if something happened to her and she cant control hem any more (like dead or illness) that he go automatically to Kat control.
