Something about Anthony's face has been bugging me for a while (and no, it's not the fact that it looks so punchable (though it does) and I've finally figured out why: it looks too detailed. Too many lines and too much shading in comparison to most of the others in the comic. It gives a weird uncanny valley effect that kind of reminds me of the Thin Men from XCOM: Enemy Unknown. I think that's why a lot of people were immediately put off by Anthony: his face is so wrong compared to the more cartoony style the comic has seen until now. His cheeks look sunken into his face, and hes got a ton of what look like wrinkles/crows feet around his eyes. He's very worse for wear. Whatever hes been doing in his absence, its certainly not been good for his health.

Probably not as good for his health as whatever the Headmaster of Gunnerkrigg Court does for a living.

Anthony and Jonathan are both smoking from the same etheric crack pipe.

Probably not as good for his health as whatever the Headmaster of Gunnerkrigg Court does for a living. As I mentioned once, if "Gunnerkrigg Court" was written by C. S. Lewis rather than by Tom Siddell, I'd half-expect the Headmaster's condition to stem from too many meetings with dark eldils (cf. "That Hideous Strength").

You're right, it could be a trap. Quick, toss a grenade through the door he came in through. Everyone else, take up defensive positions.

Might this be Eglamore's home we're looking at? Hard to say for sure, but given his history with Anthony and his changed relationship with Rey, would it be surprising if James was involved here? If so, this allows possibility of the single most awkward scene in Gunnerkrigg Court since the fateful meeting of Parley and Mort. James: Oh, hello, Tony. (gives him an irritated look) Anthony: James. I am here to return your runaway demon. James: Uh... 'okay? (Anthony gives him the dollie) James: Hello, Renard. That dolly is now yours. At least, it's a fox. Renard: (transfers) Youuuuu... James: Oh, stuff it, plushie. It's not like anyone didn't know that Tony is a <BLEEP>¹. Complete <BLEEP>¹. Anthony: ..! Annie: ..! (¹): The right words on the both lines of a speech bubble unfortunately are obscured by "End of the Chapter" mark. Bonus page: Kat: (in a hospital bed) Oww, man. I didn't know laughing too hard can hurt. His face! Annie: (plays a nurse and badly pretends to pout) Shut up and let your diaphragm heal. Renard: (pretends to be an inanimate plushie)

But I wonder what Tony even wants with Rey, aside from putting him back in prison forever? I would've half-expected Tony to be perfectly fine just having him and locking him away in a safe somewhere. Could be his deal with the Court; he gives them Rey, they give them the facilities to keep experimenting on his daughter. He should be careful though, or he might end up like Tom here: I think the Court wanted Renard originally to research a demigod. Now it is even better. Thanks to Annie they can enslave a demigod. Not bad for an organisation that endeavours to become God.

I'm just glad to see that Renard's fate is still up in the air. Having him fully controlled by Tony is a scary thought. Of course, that might be something Tom's planning; there's no way to tell, at this point. What would he (Tony) do? How powerful is Renard, really?

He'll ask him if there is a way to separate Annie's elemental, and Renard will have to tell the truth. Then Anthony will order him to do it.

He'll ask him if there is a way to separate Annie's elemental, and Renard will have to tell the truth. Then Anthony will order him to do it. It has been clearly established in the comic and in the holy Word of Tom that, although Rey cannot lie to his owner, he absolutely does not have to speak when the owner asks him a question.

Citation: There is a page in the comic that shows this - too lazy to seek it right now That would be this page right here.

I'd forgotten about that. The worst thing is that Anthony probably COULD order Rey to try to do so, he just couldn't ask him how. Though we don't know if Rey has to do his best to achieve his orders, or if he can intentionally fail by inaction. Though we do know he could avoid the order altogether by plugging his ears...
