Whoa. This isn't going to end well for Eglamore is it? I mean, it didn't even graze her face.

But it kinda looks like it DID hit her face.

*insert the duel theme from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly*
I wonder what's the significance of the gesture Eggers is making with his free hand in panel 3.

yeah. i guess not.
but im more interested in her shift in stance. its like she's doing elemental bending there.
mezz: looks like a method to focus energy. who knows with these guys.

Tom's used the "skang" sound effect before. Looks like the sword is just bouncing off her face. Elemental bending? As in Avatar The Last Airbender elemental bending? I'd guess that Jones is bending reality, but it's too early to say for sure.

if you see ysengrin arm in the last panel. its actually cut a little. not much damage to wood, tho.
yes. as in Avatar.
Reality bending is cool too.

looks like she was hit but it bounced off or was made to bend away but contact has been made or been really really close. Now while eggs is still thrusting and has yet to pull out, she's grabbed his weapon.
I think he knew what was going to happen from his reaction in the far bottom left panel.
Either that or he's really stressed cause he knows what he's facing.

The way the sword bends reminds me of the way Jones reached up to caress Eglamore's hair earlier [376.3,4].

Huzzah, the fight is on! Great page composition. I wonder if Eggers didn't graze her a little, his eyes in that second to last panel look worried (for her, not him, I think)... Though she is taking control in the last panel, bending his sword, and Eggers is losing his balance. Or is she just dodging? Her movements definitely remind me of the bullet dodging in Matrix, as someone on the front page commented.

What a collusive game! He knows he can't possibly hurt her! He isn't even properly paying attention but watching the audience instead (see his eyes in the bottom left panel). I bet they're only doing this to see Annie's reaction.

Now that we are bringing onomatopoeia into the picture, it would seem Tom's official reference for a sword cutting thru flesh would be swit.

As if I didn't think this fight could be sexual enough in its possible undertones, someone has to go and say something like this.

Note also that this is how one fights sword at long range.

I wasnt even thinking of my statement in those terms, i should be more careful.
Notice how a certain excitable girl has her arm on a certain well eyebrow endowed boy in the 2nd panel. SHe's probably holding on realy tight from excitement.

All Eglamore has to do is make a small circle with his blade, so that it's on top again. Question is, is he fast enough. I wonder what's the significance of the gesture Eggers is making with his free hand in panel 3. It looks like a pretty typical hand position to me. Now while eggs is still thrusting and has yet to pull out, she's grabbed his weapon. Pulling out would be too slow. he just needs to move his blade around Jones's arm. Or slice at her legs.

Jones officially wins the badassery award of 2008.
She deflected a fscking sword with her FACE. I'd like to see someone try and top that...
(5 bucks says that in the next page she grabs the sword, ties it in the fashion of a balloon-poodle, and eats it! *OM NOM NOM*)

I think he actually managed a hit...whetever he caused damaged or not, we'll have to see....
Also, I don't understand Egg's move...did he jump forward to hit and then backward? Did he project his sword from where is standing?
This is getting interesting

It looks like she's cut in the same place where Annie was cut by the Ghost with the Sword.

It's a sparring match. Clearly he knew he wasn't going to hurt her seriously this way.
Which makes her even more awesome. Midnight Meadows called it.

Not to mention if he could get far away enough he'd probably be able to do some sort of sword supercharge.

Hmmm, now that I re-read that comic, I wonder why he kept his sword wrapped. Is that normal practice?

What a collusive game! He knows he can't possibly hurt her! He isn't even properly paying attention but watching the audience instead (see his eyes in the bottom left panel). I bet they're only doing this to see Annie's reaction. Interesting possibility. Or maybe Eggers is embarrassed about Surma's daughter seeing his inevitable butt-whupping. Notice how a certain excitable girl has her arm on a certain well eyebrow endowed boy in the 2nd panel. SHe's probably holding on realy tight from excitement. I'd guess she's punching him or grabbing his cheek, but there's no telling with that girl. Hmmm, now that I re-read that comic, I wonder why he kept his sword wrapped. Is that normal practice? Maybe it had something to do with the fact that it was a special glowy sword (all the better for fighting sentient shadow-men). Either keeping it hidden helped preserve its glowy power, or Eggers kept it hidden so the glow wouldn't give him away to the forest-folk.
