ANNIE'S CHEATING! Why is she cheating? And, exactly as ed just said, Jones has shown up. Will she be disappointed in Annie? Who wants to bet she's the mediums's teacher?

*Bzzzt!* *Bzzzt!* "Put your pencil down and step away from the desk!" *Bzzzt!* *Bzzzt!*
That is rather disappointing on Annie's part. But not without precedent.
EDIT: Jones may not have seen Annie do the deed. It's hard to tell. And is she talking to Dr. Disaster?

Annie, no!
Oh, and it's not the Doc. The teacher's hair doesn't stick out.

Why are you guys so disappointed in Annie? Seeing this made me happy. It's a good reminder that after all, she's still a [fairly] normal kid, and just because she's smart doesn't mean she's able to ace every single subject.

I'm more surprised than anything. I think the fact that it's not something that regularly occurs with her is throwing everyone for a loop. You're right, though. Nobody is perfect.

I'm trying to figure out why there are adds for yoga teacher training on this page. there seem to be a number of teacher adds, they're probably being attracted by the thread title. i was certainly surprised by annies's copying. not disappointed exactly, just i figured she'd be smart enough to realize that kind of stuff frequently comes back to bite you...

Looks like Tom decided to nip speculation in the bud. Today's strip comment: Interesting call on that strip, Faxmaster. This instance of cheating is more overt, however, and with not just a little guilt on Annie's part.

I guess this would be the time that Annie gets pulled out of a "Mad-science" elective and put into "Medium" elective. I wish they had that back when I was in high school.

Uh, Hello? People? JONES? So yeah, uh... Jones. Anyway, cheating! Probably Annie's really not good at sciency subjects at all. If these are measurements she's penning over though she'll be caught easily. I'm trying to figure out why there are adds for yoga teacher training on this page. How about Blues Harmonica Lessons?

Count me as another person who's shocked that Annie's copying Kat's answers - though she doesn't seem that at home in the advanced science classes that Kat is so enthusiastic about.
I hadn't thought that Ms. Jones would be involved with Annie's medium classes (assuming that this is what this chapter will be about), though that notion does make sense.

We don't know if she copied everything or just two or three answers. The more pressing question is, why does she secretly copy Kats answers instead of simply asking her? It's a practical so they are supposed to work together so the teacher will expect them discussing.
Also: Why does she have to cheat? She is smart and learns a lot.

Hmm she must have been thinking of Kats intelligence in matters of science and how good she was. And noticed her answer sheet nearby

Aw, poor Annie. I just wanna give her a big hug! It's been hinted at that she isn't so hot at science (not that I can pull out pages like some of you lovely folks ), and she's still a 12/13-year-old girl in her second year of secondary or "big" school who's still only recently lost her mum. I remember at that age peering at my friends' answers, and we'd usually compare in maths to see if we got the same answer. It's not like she's in the middle of an exam hall.

ok ok ok... to all of you who are shocked that Annie cheated... did none of you cheated at school? Come on, the ground basis of friendship and teamwork are crafted in the ancient art of helping each other in the stuff that you're not good at. I was the geek who gave the answers (not always, but sure when it was hard) to my friends in science and social studies, they did my drawings and other art-related-stuff. It's called teamwork, and all of you who work, now that that's how the world works. Furthermore (love that word); Annie knows a bunch of stuff about who knows how many subjects, speaks Tom-only-knows how many languages... why does she have to be good at physics or quantum theory for that effect? The only weird part is why she was looking worried that Kat might see her, probably she doesn't want to dissapoint Kat (which is silly, I'm sure Kat would help her out). I like this in the way that show's Annie more for what she is, a school-girl, with the problems, and stuff that kids in schooling age have; she doesn't have to save the world everyday. It adds a lot to her character, and I love her even more. For the second part, that's Jones (and she's not the girl from the photo, bummer); and I do think she's gonna be involved in the medium stuff, didn't the principal asked her opinion abut Ys?

And, I get the feeling Jones is not specifically there for Antimony, It looks like she has other business.

Two things I just thought about:
Would Annie ask for Kat's help? We know that she has a penchant for solving things by herself. Also, I think her upset-ness stems from her harsh self-critic. As when she broke the glass back in the Good Hope or for not trying to help the Ghost With The Sword.

Aw, cheating is such a harsh word. I mean, cheating cheating is bad, yeah, but just scribbling off a few inconsequential answers isn't really that much of a problem. In my secondary school class we had a system about who to go to for answers for the different subjects (I was maths).
I don't see why Kat would have problems with Annie getting answers from her. I do see why Annie would have a problem with people knowing that she took answers from someone else. She's like that, she doesn't like to be reliant on other people.
And here I am talking like some expert on my first post.

Precisely! I think thats it as well, She doesn't want anyone to think less of her, that she wasn't sure of the answers, and had to look them up on her friends. Perhaps she feels a lot of pressure from her father to do well? After all, we don't know all that much about her personality.

It's not that I'm all that shocked that a school girl is cheating, it's the fact that Annie, with such a strick moral code, is cheating. She has proved time and time again that she will not go against it, then to brake it for something so mundane as cheating- well, I expected better. This is extreamly out of character for her, and I do believe that something will come out of it by the end of the chapter.

While the cheating does fill out Annie's character, I was a little shocked that she did. I agree with the previous posters, though, in that I think Kat would have been glad to help her out and that Annie didn't ask because she's deeply ashamed about cheating. I'm not saying it's completely wrong, I've done it myself before and know the feeling of desperation on a test I don't know the answers to, then the utter shame at what I'm doing. Still, Annie is so smart and responsible, it's like finding out the smartest person in your class did worse than you on a test. it's wrong to think like that, but preconceptions are powerful.

We don't know if Annie has a strict moral code. Sure, she refused to kill the Suicide Fairies, but who wouldn't have a bit of a hangup if asked to willingly murder two sentient beings? Her speech really isn't any indication of her sense of right and wrong either. She's already shown an inclination for disobeying rules/authority, she stole that picture from Kat's parents and like Faxmaster said, she has gotten answers from Kat before. This is a big defining moment for Annie's character and I, for one, am really pleased with it. That being said, Jones! I do think she's there in regards to the Medium classes, but who knows, it could be something else entirely. Maybe telling Annie the Headmaster wants to see her, since she seems to be an assistant of his?

I think it's obvious. In the future, Annie must use surgery to completely remake her face to hide from her enemies, but then she TURNS EVIL. So to stop this from happening, Reynardine possesses her body and travels BACK to the PAST using a time machine Kat built, to try to steer past Annie on the right course. It's not that I'm all that shocked that a school girl is cheating, it's the fact that Annie, with such a strick moral code, is cheating. She has proved time and time again that she will not go against it, then to brake it for something so mundane as cheating- well, I expected better. yes but if he fixed everything he would in the future never have seen annie go evil and never had to go back into the past. Canceling out all changes.
Then again till we actually do something as such and see for ourselves, done might be done for all we know.
