I guess any part of her would, really.
Friday cliffhangers are so tense. What did Surma tell her anyway? Oh, the agonising tension!

Wow, I had to sign up just to comment on how awesome this strip was, I’ve never seen Surma and Annie look so beautiful (Added points for mother/daughter cuteness).
On the other hand… go Annie, she might be about seven years old but I sure wouldn’t mess with her here.

I'm guessing Surma told her to always remember all that is not real, or something.

My first thought was that Annie's illusion-dispelling power was boosted by her resolve.

At least we have some idea now why Tom left Surma's instructions to Annie out near the start of the chapter. Apparently they contained information that would have given away too much of the climax if we had seen them then. (Even now, we haven't found out what the one thing was that Annie is supposed to remember, though we might be able to guess at it from her actions on this page.)

Maby her mother told her that if you just remember it's not real then it can't hurt you.

Previous single-panel flashbacks were a sepia-toned miniature of the original art, with a black border. (For example, see [208] panel 4 or [277] panel 6.) This one is full-color, borderless, and it's original art (just compare this page's depiction of that moment against the original). Maybe Tom's calling further attention to this moment to highlight its importance. Maybe this is to show that the memory is more vivid for Annie because it just happened a few minutes ago. I like the way Surma's hair flows into Annie's. Perhaps it's a visual sign that Annie is growing more like her mother in that moment? Whatever it all means, this page rocks.
