Okay, so we're starting off in the forest, and celestial form coyote.
I was going to say cosmic form coyote, but then decided celestial sounded better.

Hoping for lots of Coyote too. We haven't had a Coyote-centric chapter in *forever*. Woot! (called it) Looking forward to Coyote's spin on recent events.

Yes, an ether-style drawing! We haven't had one of these in a while! (Zimmyngham does not count)

To be fair I think most people called Forest upon seeing the title page and is it just me, or does it look like Coyote is almost, caressing Annie's leg? Maybe it's just the angle, but starting to wonder just what Coyote's plans are for Annie.

Interesting to see that almost everything is colourful, even the forest background! The only thing that isn't colourful is Annie's clothes and that single grey band behind Annie's head. But I get the feeling that's part of the (Coyote's) colour scheme.
Kinda shows, to me, that Annie has now developed an almost full grasp of (being in) the ether.
When was the last ethereal picture? The wisp? Anything before that?

I never noticed this before, but the white detailing on the blue bits between Coyote's eyes(?) looks kind of like the etheric computer magic that Kat's parents use from time to time. A little more natural and less electronic, but similar.

I think the last ether-pic was when Annie and Mort went through the door. Chapter 47, page 1350

It might still be about robots! We just had a robot chapter (if before the hiatus) - let's have it about the forest-and-Coyote part of the story, since that's the part Annie's more closely involved with. Kat's part of the story has been upstaging her a bit too much lately.

... Or it was definitely a chapter about Coyote and the Forest folk. No robots here, bugger that.

Slightly off topic, but I have to wonder if spammers like that ACTUALLY get any results from blatant, shotgun approaches like this. I've never been motivated at all to buy any good or service advertised in this manner. (if they've been deleted by the time someone is reading this, we had another bot flood the forum with virtually identical posts advertising... Looks like some sort of love-help phone line? Not sure, though.)

That's why there was some discussion of an internet stamp that would cost a tiny fraction of a cent. A normal person might acrue a few dollars worth of charges in a year, but the stamp would be enough to make spam unprofitable. I believe the idea never took off because of implementation concerns.

What Etheric teeth you have! Great start to the chapter. I'm hoping we'll here about divine worship. Did other gods in the past lose worshipers and fade away, or are they still around? There seems to be some kind of Divine Rank. How exactly does Coyote have so much power? I can't imagine too many Coyote worshipers currently "crossing over" to affect the Ether.

It was in " The Old Dog's Tricks".

Perhaps he is the archetype of the Trickster, so many people believe in him without seeing him as a coyote. Our understanding of his secret is fuzzy. I'm gonna take a stab at fleshing out some of GKC's etherphysics and Coyote's source of power. We all know that creatures in this world can develop or be given etheric abilities. We also know that these abilities can shape the physical world directly. We also know people's thoughts and perceptions of the world affect the ether once they die. Once absorbed into the ether, these perceptions continue to shape the world, similar to how society and psychology influence our view of the world. I think the ether is a more literal interpretation of sentient creatures' perceptions and beliefs, accelerating and amplifying this process. Coyote seems to have known this, so all he had to do was find out about the folklore surrounding the coyote, gather a small following in America, show off, and expand his powers by using them. He is literally stoking his ego and bootstrapping himself into a position of power using the ether, if only for shits and giggles. I have no idea if anyone can follow this since I'm operating on like 2 hours of sleep.

I don't think that it's the amount of religious worship that keeps the Etheric deities going, but human imagination in general. We've seen that Chang'e is still around and well, which seems to suggest that the old gods in general are still around.

That one of those sleep schedule routines to save daytime, or were you real busy? You do say "if only for shits and giggles", but I feel I must say I think that's the farthest from the truth. Do I know what's he about? Hell no. But trickster gods, to me, are a lesson in thinking for yourself. Don't believe everything on first sight (btw, I think that was one of the points my avatar had). I think he might just come out benevolent. I actually wish that. But I recently remembered the manipulation on Ysengrin. I don't like to say never, but justifying that is gonna be hard, if Coyote is to turn out pure white like, instead of grey.

Do I know what's he about? Hell no. You could just ask Me! *pouting* Nobody cares about my opinion but poor, stupid Ysengrin. And he's so boring because he won't disagree or get mad at me!! No use talking to someone if you can't annoy them!

The 2 hours of sleep was a result of a random bout of insomnia combined with late-night internet trawling. And yeah, I definitely was not thinking when I said Coyote only does what he does for shits and giggles. He clearly has motives, but his erratic behavior makes it hard to see what angle he is playing so far in the comic. Maybe this chapter will help us understand what Coyote's true motives are. Being a trickster god, I doubt we will ever fully understand Coyote's behavior, since deception and manipulation are tools of Coyote's trade. Also, I have a strange feeling that Tom wouldn't want it to be that easy for us haha.

Since no one seems to be discussing what Coyote actually said, based on the wording, it seems that they are still in the Summer. Which I am excited for because we haven't seen much of their summers besides in sidestories or letters and stuff. I am also excited for the possibility that they are still in the middle, or at least not at the end, of summer.
