No, I doubt it is a Guide. It killed that fly, and Guides don't kill things. Muut said so, its why he wouldn't kill the Suicide Fairies. I wonder what the spider has to do with ghost stories. Hmmm...

I don't think the spider has anything to do with it. The spider killed the fly, and the guide showed up. Guide is neither spider nor fly.

I also think Annie's talking to the Guide who came for the fly. (If they attend to the souls of insects as well as of humans - and presumably all other life forms on the planet - they must be an extremely busy lot.)
I'm glad to see Annie back in uniform again; it seems to match her calm, matter-of-fact disposition better than most of her civilian clothes do.

Annie doesn't look happy to see Ketrak, which would make perfect sense, considering her conversation with Muut. But if flies have souls that need guidance into the afterlife, why don't the TicTocs? (Oh, wait, Muut could have been referring to himself with the royal "we", saying that he personally doesn't guide the souls of robots. So maybe another Guide took the TicToc's soul while Annie was swimming to shore.)

Because robots don't have souls?... Seriously, what.

Yeah, I think insects are more likely to have souls than robots are (or robots are less likely).

Agree with everyone, most likely a Guide, most likely came for the soul of the fly, and robots don't have souls.
And I think Annie doesn't like them in general because they took her mom's soul...It's their job, but would you be all friendly like to someone who reaped your mothers soul??

Annie doesn't look happy to see Ketrak, which would make perfect sense, considering her conversation with Muut. To be fair, Annie never seems to be happy about seeing anyone except Kat.

To me, Annie looks more neutral or detached than displeased in that panel.

The angle in panel 6 makes it look like Annie is on the edge of the light and the shadow. Re: robot souls, I was assuming that the possession of a soul was more likely to correlate with sentience and self-awareness than with which side of the biological/synthetic divide one falls on. While the TicToc may not be self-aware, I would assume it's more sentient than a fly. That said, my previous objection was just jumping at a shadow. We don't know for a fact that there isn't a Guide assigned somewhere to collect TicToc souls. Annie doesn't look happy to see Ketrak, which would make perfect sense, considering her conversation with Muut. To be fair, Annie never seems to be happy about seeing anyone except Kat. Well, she looks like she's unhappy to see Ketrak, and she's just being polite. The only other people I can recall her treating this way are Muut and Eglamore.

In the comments, ZreaperZ came up with an explanation I hadn't thought of: "Isn't it obvious that she's talking to someone that approached her. Shes totally not looking at the spider. Rather someone standing before her." So maybe it's the name of one of the ex-fairies.

If a guide had come for the TicToc, Annie would have probably have noticed. That means that either TicToc's don't have guides, which is what I am included to believe, or the TicToc was not sufficiently dead; the TicToc was still alive enough to build a radio station of some sort.

Muu is not for TicToc, but for shadow at bridge. When Eglamore's blades strikes Robot, shadow lost its cover and becomes many pieces..

I wonder what's up with that circular hole in the foliage in the first, fourth, and fifth panels? At first I ran right over it, since big bright spots in the top part of a panel are fairly common ways of showing the direction the light's coming from, but especially in the fifth it looks like there's actually a hole pruned through the leaves. Nothing important, probably, but it is a little odd.

...This is easily the most terrifying and horrific page of this comic ever.
Spider is creeping me out.

I looked back and noticed that muut does seem to often use the royal we ( we took a moment to see how you were). so maybe your theory is correct.
