Shit happens, literallyOr, I mean literally, in that what happens seems to be pretty shitty, for the love boat, yes, but possibly for the rest of the folks as well. But should I have rather commented Paz's peculiar move on Kat who seemed to have forgotten of the rest of the world when building the whale? Anyway, what is Paz doing, and why is it beneficial to immobilise Kat? Edit: Finally, Kat's face after the kiss makes me think of peanuts. Yes, it is kind of reversed, but still, made me think of it.

It's probably down to Paz needing to do something within the next few seconds and knowing that it requires a bit of an explanation. Kat would have probably gone, "wha... whoa.... why..." and wasted vital time. Maybe Paz needs to talk to Lindsey? I will say that I thought that Paz was going to use a left hook in the fourth panel. |

That was an experimentally tested manoeuvre, see, here Kat was immobilised potentially for hours by the Paz kiss. |

Hell, I'd be dazed too if that happened to me. Well, she goes to a very unusual school and is not a stranger to strangeness herself: she can talk with animals. Put her in the right era, she'd get burned as a witch; put her into a different school today, she might still be treated as a freak if she is unlucky. Plus she has seen quite some magic already, as when they went camping. Her level-headedness seems legit in the context of the story. |

That's the second time KatPaz smoochies interfered with the robot ascension. Some bots might notice and take issue with such distractions to the angel_creator_kat.
I wonder what's with the angry/determined face.
When they return to reality, will the ship still be intact? Will it have transformed into a half finished whale (ew)?
Will the half formed carcass of a whale float beside the ship? Will the ship still be conscious?
Whatever the outcome, I don't think the fallout will be too pretty.

Yeah, it's going to be a mess, I'm pretty sure. I just hope there's enough flotsam for everyone to cling to, and that the robot army doesn't get shorted out by the seawater.

Limbs of sailor-bots dangling out of steel/organic bulkheads. A misshaped mouth on the side of the ship, saying in a quivering voice, "I didn't know love would hurt this much...Ahhhhh8ocbwf^a#!" But, I doubt this is going to be a scary/disturbing chapter. Other than the disturbing nature of love, infatuation, and obsession... which are pretty scary on their own. |

I've been thinking about Kat the last few weeks in the context of the old nuclear scientists I've seen interviews with on tape; many of them were so wrapped up in the Absolutely Amazingly Cool Theory side of things that it never occurred to them to wonder or care what was going to be done with what they were building/developing. Needless to say, the Tellers of the world - and most definitely the Generals and Politicians - had no such limitations; for that matter, the Generals carefully made sure that the Einstein and Oppenheimer types who did have some scruples were kept as far out of the picture as possible. And here we have Kat happily building a sperm whale Because She Can (Wow!) *starry eyes*; happily, Our Heroine Paz WAS asking difficult questions, paying attention, and doing what needed to be done. Oooooohhhh, she's so cool, yay! |

Kinda like a buffer underrun -- not good when you're using a biofed 3D printer.  |
